Trading sandin seems likely at this point he was 2.5 million and we can’t afford that

And to fill up the rest of their teams? Shouldnt they have signed those guys already then? Why are they taking so long? Why are the leafs some how more rushed?

Honestly I don’t understand what point you are trying to make?

My point is that the leafs are capped out with a 22 man roster and still have 2 RFA’s that will make 1.5 million minimum each.

No where to fit them

Yeah I could see that.

I think losing Kerfoot is an L though. Unless they are really confident Robertson can play 2LW

I just think losing Mikheyev and Kerfoot in one offseason and replacing them with jarnkrok and Aube Kubel really hurts Torontos bottom 6.

Trading Muzzin make the most sense imo. Sandin I think is ready for his spot. If he waived his ntc…

Well the leafs still have like 2 mill on cap space when you put the ahlers in the ahl, and another 8.2 in offseason space and like 5 mill they can trade away when they need to. And there is literally zero rush

I mean obviously they will trade away pieces since they have to.

And stashing players in the AHL is great except they will be below the minimum roster size if they do that in order to fit Sandin and engvall.

Leafs have put themselves in a position where they have to trade away cap in order to sign their RFA’s. Backing yourself into a corner like that is how you lose all leverage in a trade. Like Vegas with Pacioretty. Or Vegas with dadonov. Or Vegas with Fleury. Or Vegas with Schmidt.

Basically what I’m saying is, Toronto could easily find themselves in a Vegas level position cap wise which is not a place you want to be. Especially after dubas has already had to add picks twice in the past calendar year to dump cap with Ritchie and Mrazek (though he was able to dump them for below market value)

Having to ship out middle pieces for cheaper but similarly productive ones isnt anything like what vegas is doing. Vegas has had to move their starter and a top line winger to keep the guys they have. The leafs have to move kerfoot and are replacing him with jarnkrok and a guy like milano

Kerfoot is much better than jarnkrok. Plus, leafs already lost Mikheyev this offseason. Their 6th and 7th best forwards lost and jarnkrok and aube-kubel are the replacements.

Again, if Robertson hits as a 2LW it could be fine. But I don’t see how this team is better than last years. Imo it’s a decent amount worse
