Was this a good signing?

I was a little surprised to see this because I expected him to stay in Calgary with his cousin there. $2.1M AAV is fair value for him, and the term seems pretty low risk to me given how consistent he’s been over the years and that it doesn’t go beyond his 35th birthday.

He strikes me as being the prototypical third-line forward, mostly a centre but I think he can also play the wing, which means they can leave Kampf at centre with Jarnkrok on the wing, with the flexibility to move him around in case of injuries. It doesn’t appear to leave much cap space to sign Engvall and Sandin, but he fills a need, and they seem to have a lot of extra depth players now so I expect they can do something with them to make this work without giving up a more important piece.

This makes me thing Engvall is on the move rather than Kerfoot.

Term is odd, but I like the AAV.

That’s unusual - Dubas signed a good deal! The end of the world may be near!

Take your beer goggles off, this isn't close to a "W" .This is the type of contract Engval is looking to get.

Doesn't perform in the playoffs + 4 year term.

Big L imo

term is long because the AAV is relatively low. If this were a 2 year deal, the Leafs couldn't have afforded the significantly higher AAV. Hence the 4 years.

What do you mean he doesn't perform in the playoffs, clearly you never watched the Predators in their hey day. Not to mention he brings some much needed sandpaper to the Leaf's lineup

yea, a 2 yr x $2.5 million contract for Ritchie worked out well....so 4 yr x $2.1 is better ?????

Leafs new GM next year will have to burn this team down for a quick rebuild.

Am I the only one that is confused at this one?
Kerfoot replacement would make it make slightly more sense... but...
Is this guy even good?

Yo I just confirmed on HockeyDB that Ritchie and Jarnkrok are not the same person.

Just incase you got confused bro.

That sounds like good logic for a team that’s supposed to be in win-now mode. So why didn’t they apply the same logic to their goaltending? They didn’t want to commit to a goalie for more than two years, and as a result they wound up spending almost as much AAV on a guy with a lot more uncertainty (assuming Campbell would have signed the same contract in Toronto that he signed in Edmonton).

I'm certain they would've signed a more proven goalie to that contract if the option existed.

For this deal - it's a yes for me.

They need guys like this who fit more naturally into the roles they need. If this means Kerfoot is moved, then I won't say that's necessarily a bad thing. Yes, we're losing on some production, but we save some money and get a guy more suited for the 3rd line.

Leafs add another Kerfoot, exactly what the Leafs need, small and soft. I voted no

Jarnkrok is anything but soft. You've obviously never watched him play

He wasn't that great of a fit in Calgary, despite the family connection. He really dropped off offensively when he went there for some reason. Toronto could be a better fit potentially

Anyone under 6'0 and who doesnt hit is soft according to this guy

To me Jarnkrok is perfect in Toronto and I think hes gonna play with JT and Willy or help create a new intriguing 3rd line

Pretty good signing! Not a massive W but the Leafs need small Ws where they can get them right now.

Good price for a 10-goal, 30-point player. The term is a little high, while the player is worse in the playoffs. I think it's a win, but a marginal one.

His career average is 15 g and 35 points over 82 gp and is a w/c
