So you want to win the lottery then trade it to clear cap. That's insane.

No, its trading it now, but looking at the state of this team, its certain that they compete for 1OA

I think they would, Habs are probably guarantee a top 5 pick next year, which will probably result is a franchise player.

Why do you feel the Habs need to clear all that space? Byron is probably on LTIR for the last year of his deal, but can buried in the minors to save 1M if not.
Dadonov can be bought out for 667K this season and 2.1M next season.
What are you planning to do with the cap space?

Habs are not near competing anyways so why do they need to clear cap? They could be taking bad contracts to gain assets even and in 3 years they should be ready to start loading up. They could pull off a Rangers style rebuild pretty quick

i will add there is no good point in paying to clear cap space if you don't used that cap space for something else.

there is absolutely no patience with this fan base

teams are built off good drafting and hitting on most high picks (2009-2018 was ridiculously bad and set us very far back), we tried building through FA last year and it did nothing

so Free Agency is over, Byron/Dadanov expire this year and will likely fetch mid-round picks at TDL, Hoffman will be in the same boat next year, there is clearly a market for Petry something just has to click for Hughes and you wanna give a likely top 3 pick (after dumping all these guys) to get rid of Gallagher after 1 bad year after 4 straight 30 goal pace seasons and Armia who would not cost nearly a 1st to dump
