It was painful to hear Russo talk this week about how Dubas offered Nylander straight up for Dumba a few years back, and Paul Fenton turned it down.

It’ll probably be less. The Chariot or Barrie deal looks about what he‘ll get.

You've really overpaid for Nylander. Leafs are better without an extension and having cap next summer to decide where they want to spend it.
Two years of Nylander and one year of Holl for one year of Dumba and a first IMO is still an overpay by Minni. Dumba and second, I would trade

Good to know! I didn’t know exactly where to start this “proposal “

Who would replace Nylander in terms of scoring for the Leaf? The top 6 becomes significantly weaker. I would imagine Dubas would rather want two roster players and the 2023 pick and Dumba would certainly be a rental (extending Dumba would be too risky without seeing what Matthews would extend for).

Orrrrr, Toronto can improve its blueline where it needs to most. BTW - Dumba is very sound defensively!

Not interested. I only included Holl in the trade to make the trade more palatable for Toronto…and as a stopgap RHD for the Wild.

Now I know Leaf fan are saying "how to you replace Nylander's 35 goals".....Now that is a valid point. But the reasons I like it, you do improve the defence...and scoring by Dumba over Holl.
Leafs get a more cap space....and by your proposal Leafs have enough to sign Engvall and Sandin for a reasonable 23 man roster.
Just a note...IMO Robertson and Steeves make the Leafs club as LWers this year. So LW would look solid with Bunting, Kerfoot, Jarnkrok, Robertson and Steeves. Yes right wing looks weaker, but one of the LWers could go the right side...especially during PP.

Dumba would be a stop gap for Toronto (I know you said a 5.5m extension), they are better off getting someone in the 3s or 4s who would be more affordable. I wonder too if Minnesota would run into cap problems trying to resign Nylander.
