Habs Yotes Deals to finish off off-season

Created by: AllJonedOut
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 16, 2022
Published: Jul. 16, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Offense is good enough to challenge for playoffs. Drouin deal is a little risky. But upside is there. Money is also there to resign him to a 3-5 year deal if he works out.

Goaltending is very solid. If Kaapo and James and have the same .910-.915 SVV they had this year I feel pretty happy about goaltending.

Defense. I won’t lie. It’s not looking great. But realistically when you have 7 mil locked in to a bottom pairing guy. Not a lot you can do. The Benning deal on paper looks stupid but if he stinks, oh well stick in the ahl and it doesn’t count against the cap. Markus was a guy I liked a lot in CBJ so I was happy to see us give him a try. If Mario and Ryan can step into both being solid top 4 d-man than we might actually have a chance of having a decent enough defense.

Probably won’t happen this tho.

Unless MSL is in love with the idea of salvaging Drouin, I would think the Habs should make this trade. Personally, I'd prefer instead to have the pick(s) come from Montreal and trade Hoffman instead.

If price truly is finished, Kent accepts this. On the condition that you must play Drouin with Meier tho

    Hoffman and EK65 make that a no-go

I don't dislike the idea, I actually really like it but it depends on whether Price plays or not.

Couture needs a wingman. Drouin is his guy.

I could even see where you guys do it with price.

Even is Price comes back, he is not gonna be in a situation where he can play 60-70 games. Probably more like 40-50. I personally don’t see Allen as a legit option, maybe you guys disagree but. Hill also is way younger and RFA controlled for after this year.

Won’t at least one of Hill or Kahkonen have to clear waivers unless SJS make a move?

We (the sharks) wouldn’t do Hoffman for obvious reasons. Also with you guys kinda of doing a retooling of your own. I don’t think trading away at least a second, probably more is the right play at the moment.

I believe kaapo could go down one more time(could be wrong). Could depend on his contract. Also We could easily just trade Reimer who is better in the moment and probably worth more anyways.

    Fair enough for Montreal.
Get a 3rd for Drouin without the need to retain, and allows us to move Allen for decent value while still keeping Primeau in Laval.

I don’t think Drouin is really worth that much. Think the pick isn’t needed or rather high for my liking.
