Team is over the cap once you add a 23rd player and Kapanen and Rodrigues get more $

That's not the point, the OP here is commenting on the Penguins trades today that aren't very good and their gm could have done much better on spending them somewhere else.

If Kapanen gets more than that then I’ll stand corrected about Hextall’s worst move being the MTL trade.

My point here is that OP is saying it is so easy but his team isn’t even cap compliant

You want to say the Petry trade was bad Im fully on board with you. The Marino one though was fine on its own. Marino is a 2nd pair dman but couldnt perform offensively, did not fit in our system. It would be like having a less physical Brooks Orpik back on the team in todays NHL. Marino will hopefully figure it out offensively somewhere else but not here.

Finally!! I'm so sick of seeing people say how good these trades wete. I've been saying this since it happened, but have been pretty much told I don't know what I'm talking about because Hextall is brilliant

If Hextall was brilliant why hasn’t he ever built a good team? His career as a GM is pretty lackluster

You can run a 22 man roster. Someone (probably Zucker) will end up on LTIR anyway

You can run a 22 man roster, but will we? No. It’s a good idea to have that extra man

23 players isn't a requirement - it's the maximum. But yeah - Kap is going to get more
