Created by: F50marco

Initial Creation Date: Aug. 19, 2015
Published: Aug. 19, 2015
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Still 4M cap space to sign free agents or flexibility to make trade to get a good player that would cost more than what you'd be trading the other way.
Scuderi bought out next off season.
Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Lipon, JC
Additional Details:
2016 2nd round pick
WPG
  1. Kunitz, Chris ($500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
OK prospect and 2nd rounder for a proven veteran scorer but a bit of salary retained. Winnipeg gets a bit tougher and more offensive while Pittsburgh gets some cap relief and decent assets. 2nd rounder will most likely be in the 50-60th overall range.
2.
PIT
  1. Tinordi, Jarred
Additional Details:
Pitt gets a rugged defensive defenceman with potential who was drafted in the 1st round. Toughness on the blueline. Something Pitt needs.

The Montreal trade shows potential. And still cap space for Skuds to be on team.

Why does Winnipeg give Pittsburgh a second rounder? Just give it to the Leafs and avoid the "Pens" middleman.

I was just trying out something similar to that Kunitz deal. Can Pit pry away Ehlers if they don't ask for a pick and/or retain more? LW prospects are bigger need than C right now.

Although Kunitz isn't what he used to be, whether you like it or not, he still has value especially for a team that hasn't got a ton of players who have playoff experience and have proved they can score decent point totals even at 35 years old. Lipon is a smallish forward but feisty and has some decent hands too. the second rounder is will end up being probably between 45-60th. Nice to have but to be honest far from a very promising prospect. Both teams get something they can use and it doesn't hamstring anyone of them for the future or present.

Not a bloody chance in hell. Ehlers will be a solid player. Kid has sick hands. Equivalent if not even better than Leafs giving Nylander.....

From hockeysfuture,.com (where Ehlers is rated 3rd best prospect in the league that hasn't burnt an NHL rookie season yet)

"The Winnipeg Jets snagged a silky smooth pure goal scorer when they drafted Nikolaj Ehlers. With back-to-back 100-point seasons in the QMJHL, the anticipation for the Danish forward to play in the NHL continues to grow. Even without high-profile former teammate Jonathan Drouin this season, Ehlers continued to be one of the most explosive offensive talents in junior hockey. He thinks and plays the game at an exceptionally high level, and his lack of size is offset by his great skating and heads-up thinking. He will need to get stronger and improve his defensive game, but those are issues that can be easily solved with good coaching."

Ah didn't realize he was rated that highly. Thought it'd be cool to put him and Sprong together to form a " Double Dutch" line smile
