Over payment. The rest of the GMs know they need the cap help more than they need the player. 1 second probably gets it done right now.

One second round pick for Dumba will do. Maybe he’ll get traded in September at the team’s training camp.

I can see a team that has the cap space to eat the 6m hit, and has enough futures they can gamble they'll get a better or equal return at the deadline on Dumba.

Look at Buffalo as an example for me, they have 3 second rounders in 2023. Trade 1 for Dumba no retention. Then at the deadline flip dumba for a profit. at 50% retained. You could definitely get a first for 50% dumba, and I can see a team like Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa, CBJ, Montreal, San Jose, Anaheim, Arizona, Chicago, and Seattle doing something like that.
