Serverson makes sense for Ottawa, if they thought he could be extended reasonably. I think Formenton is a logical trade chip for a top 4 D, given the coming cap crunch, and the players available to replace him on ELCs.

If he came extended at $5m x 4 years I might do that, but Forms is going to be a 40 point 3rd liner as soon as next season so it's tough.

We could also sign Klingberg for 1 season and Weegar the next.
It's tough because our 3rd line of Forms - Pinto - Jospeh is elite and the D is so uncertain.

Probably not. I only say probably not because anything is possible. But the Devils already have a stocked cupboard of prospects and are looking to compete. Trading a top 4 defenseman for prospects isn't in line with the current moves the Devils are making.

All those guys u mentioned except Klinberg and Weegar aren’t too 4 dmen. Weegar will be more expensive than Severson and Klinberg to OTT has cooled down. Severson will also probably be cheaper than both Klinberg and Weegar in terms of contract value. U need someone like Severson rn more than u need Formenton
