His NMC is going to limit the return, but we'll see. Kakko and a 2023 1st isn't bad at all.

Are you joking? For one year of Kane?

Would be nasty for NYR this year, maybe worth it because I think it makes them a favorite to win them the cup, but it still seems a bit much to give in futures. High risk, high reward I guess but would be crushing if it didn't amount to a cup.

Kane is one of the best to ever play and he always finds a way to somehow elevate his game in the playoffs. High risk high reward, if you're a contender you rather have him on your team instead of your opponent's....

Lets say Kakko makes the long awaited turn around and is on pace for a 40-50 pt season. Are you still trading him?

Kane has 3 stanley cups, a conn smythe, a hart, and an art ross. You rather have 50 point Kakko than 90+ point Patrick Kane reuniting with his favorite former teammate? NYR isn't high on Kakko as is, why wouldn't you get a Hall of Fame in his prime? I understand Kakko is young, but so is Othmann, Lafreniere, and Kravtsov.

When's the last time a player of Kane's caliber has ~Potentially~ been on the market? Healthy, consistent scorer on an awful team, with tons of winning pedigree.

Considering Kane isn't waiving during the offseason and is waiting to see how the season goes, the cap hit at half retained will be between $2M to $3M given that it's prorated against games played so doubt there is a need for a 3rd team involved.

I could see NY doing a 1st, KK, and a dump but don't see much more then that. I'd imagine Kane might say, Toronto, NY, Vegas (if they are competitive), Avs so it's still a pretty limited market.

I understand the argument for Kane, but again, if Kakko takes the next step in his development and shows upside to his game... are you trading him for 1 year of Kane? Especially if Kane basically says Rangers or bust? Sure, if Kakko continues to disappoint, then it makes it easier to trade him, but if hes on a 20g 30a trajectory, Id be very reluctant to trade him and try to find a way around it.

Neither Othmann nor LAF nor Cuylle are RW. Kravtsov? Sure theres some potential there, but how far away are we from another childish meltdown that makes him leave for Russia again?

There's already tons of speculation regarding Kakko's future in NYR. If you can get a 90+ point player from a bottom 5 team in the league, I think you have to take it. There's already cap issues regardless of adding Kane or not. Go big or go home, the eastern conference is wide open. Lots of teams got worse.

I just think were over selling in a trade that Kane has 100% control over and the Rangers can basically make out like bandits by not having to give up their top end prospects.
