Only way I trade for Tavares and give up that much is he is signing a contract before he hits the ice for the first time in Detroit. Don't think NYI will go for it anyways but nice to dream.

I, myself, don't think that gets them Tavares ... i really don't think Detroit has what it would take to acquire him ...

Detroit defiently has what it takes to get Tavares the thing is I doubt he signs an extension with them

It may cost them an extra pick or prospect like a Givani Smith or a Filip Hronek. But I think the guideline of a top 10 pick, another 1st round pick, a future 2nd round pick and a high level prospect/Nhl ready player is about the average return for a player that could leave In free agency a year later.

Oh Detroit definitely has the pieces to nab Tavares, But like the other poster said i doubt he would sign an extension with them.

He's playing 3rd line Center, Because of now he hasn't shown the ability to be able to handle top line or 2nd line duties. I think his window will be a top end #2 Center hopefully.
