Description
Leafs betting on Robertson being able to come into the NHL and produce by putting him in a position to succeed with two elite players.

Järnkrok is essentially a cheaper replacement for Kerfoot, while the likes of NAK would replace Mikheyev's speed and forechecking. ZAR will help on the forecheck as well.

Permanent spots made on the backend for Sandin & Liljegren. Pairings can shuffle around, not too worried about it in July.

Calm about the goaltending, last year Leafs SV% as a team was .900 flat. Murray was 0.906 & Samsonov 0.896 with a 0.912 the playoffs. Feel like goaltending is at the same level overall pretty much.

Simmonds pretty much guaranteed to be 13th forward while there are two spots left for those on the taxi-squad to compete for. (Taxi-squad just used to show who is competing).

Kerfoot & Holl are traded and not put on LTIR. Just don't want to make trades for someone to come and say X team declines and counters with a C-level prospect & a 7th for Matthews. Just trust that they are movable contracts, especially Kerfoot who is only owed $750k in actual dollars. Holl will have suitors too.

This would seem to be the logical direction for the rest of the offseason. I do question how much Sandin will make he has very few (if any) NHL contract comparables, GP,pts etc. I really think Sandins camp has him wanting 2 mill to 2.5 for two years and the leafs have him between 900k and 1.5 mill on a two year deal. Remember he has no negotiating power with no arbitration rights. So the Leafs can basically offer whatever they want and Sandins only two options is to sign or sit out the season.

Honestly don't know what the FA's will get. I have seen some take way below what I expected and others more. Figured the 1 year deal on lower AAV would be what the Leafs could offer ZAR and he might be interested in taking that if he prioritizes to be on a contending team. Can obviously get more elsewhere with more term, but situation might not be as good.

This seems like the way it's headed and that isn't necessarily an awful thing. I think Sonny Milano is worth a shot instead of ZAR, he proved last season he thrives as a complement to higher-scoring players so I feel like he could be a fit with Tavares and Nylander.

Milano did have a good season for sure. Could see him complement JT & Willy. Problem is what you do with Robertson then. Don't think playing on the 4th line will be good for his development or confidence. Maybe trade bait then?

If a trade pops up for an impact forward of RHD I wouldn't be opposed to moving him, but assuming that doesn't happen I agree about not sticking him on the 4th line. I'd give him a look on the 3rd line, and maybe if Milano doesn't work out or runs into a cold stretch they could swap places.

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Milano-JT-Nylander
Robertson-Engvall-Jarnkrok
LW - Kampf - Aube-Kubel

That 4LW could be Simmonds/Malgin/Anderson/Abruzesse
