Lmao, Canucks aren't bringing on JVR at 7M to play on the 4th line, and definitely not for as cheap as a 3rd round pick.

I'd rather keep Dickinson and have the 5M in cap space and go for a RHD so Schenn isn't forced to play top pairing minutes.

Rangers aren't giving u that. No one is giving their top prospects for a 30 year old, especially one on an expiring contract. So either sign him or expect an underwhelming return cuz that's what it'll be for Canucks fans

Yeah, I think the issue here was placing JVR on the 4th line, even on the most stacked teams in the league he is still middle six, probably top six in Vancouver

Definitely not Top-6 in Vancouver with the current roster, even Tanner Pearson had a better P/PG than JVR last season. Maybe Top-9, but it still doesn't matter, Canucks aren't going to acquire a 33 yo with a 7M cap hit.

Maybe for Pettersson (not the one drafted this year) you could get that return from NYR... retaining half that is.

Nils - former 1st round pick
Chytil - young middle six center/wing, former 1st round pick
Othmann - Top 20 nhl prospect, recent 1st rounder
1st round pick

So yeah you want FOUR 1st round picks for one season of Miller? That's laughable. Rangers counter with a 1st and Libor Hajek for Miller half retained.

I mean thats literally 4 1st rounders but thats not how the value works dude... Like Jake Virtanen and Olli Juolevi are former first rounders. The cost of Debrincat was 2 1sts so using your logic, tt'd cost 1 Olli Juolevi and 1 Jake virtanen to acquire 1 Alex Debrincat...

JVR did put up 22 goals in the last 60 games of the season which is definitely something I think the canucks could use, but to each their own

there is significant difference between the players you brought up and the ones in this trade. While Juolevi and Virtanen don't have first round values, the ones mentioned from NYR still do. Later in the 1st round for some, but still do.

Canucks were scoring at a 3.2 GF/G pace under Boudreau last season, which would place them tied with Vegas for 12th, paced to 82 games.

The additions of Mikeheyev (who scored more) and Kuzmenko this off-season I think will help more than JVR would, terrible cap hit or not.

Like I said, to each their own… I have 0 faith in KHL players, NHL fourth liners can be leading scorers there… and JVR had one less in those 60 than Brock all year

So the top line here i think isn’t exactly strong right now
