Honestly, I don’t see this work for the Wild unless they also move out a forward. Hartman would be fine IMO but I’m having a tough time seeing the fit, even if Jesse is a great player.

It works just fine if Heinen isn't signed, great pick up in NHL 21 franchise mode, but a bust in the real world.

Without having signed Heinen that'd give us 13 forwards and 7 defenseman with $1.4M left in cap space. We can afford Puljujärvi just fine as long as Kulikov gets moved out.

Edit: And I wouldn't move Hartman for Puljujärvi straight up.

Sure, but one of McJesus or Drai have to be coming back. 🙃

I'll pass on a 2.25M cap hit for what would likely be our 7th dman

I wouldn’t move Hartman for Jesse either, just that I don’t see Jesse providing something we don’t already have. I’d be fine flipping Jost for Jesse but if we’re gonna go out and get somebody for 3.5 mil, focus on somebody like Roy in VGK.

I think Jesse is gonna be a high value player on a cheap deal but I really think the Wild have a lot of what he brings. What they need is strength up the middle or scoring, Jesse doesn’t bring that.

I think Puljujarvi is a perfect fit for the Wild as well as the perfect (potential) linemate for Rossi and Boldy! Puljujarvi’s size, speed, and hustle would fit perfectly with them! He doesn’t think the game as well or as fast as those two, but his role would be to do the dirty work (forecheck, net front, et al).

I would make this trade 100 times out of 100 times!

I hear that. I just think that’s precisely what Jost is, without the size. Which I don’t care about.

I care a lot about size in a 7 game playoff series! Jost is fast, and speed can be a big factor in playoff hockey, but size and speed can really start to dictate play and even take over in hard fought, physical series. Jost will (imo) never have an impact on playoff hockey. He’s a fringe NHLer still getting chances because of his draft status…

That’s fair. I still disagree with the analysis, but I wouldn’t be upset flipping Jost for Jesse.
