Idea is to promise Sandin a top 4 start on a 1 year deal. Then at the deadline, you can get an upgrade where you need it by trading Kerfoot if there's no LTIR room from injuries and call up Knies/Robertson. Robertson will be the first call up if there's an injury to the top 9 and likely plays most of the season

This is very solid but I’d like a more established 4C like Gagner

Oilers decline.
And why do you have a taxi squad? All of them go on waivers???

just for the sake of showing who the next wave of callups would be. Only Clifford, Simmonds, Mete, and Malgin would go on waivers if I remember correctly, and I don't think all of them get claimed.

Doesn't have to be EDM, though I think it's a possible destination, but someone would take him for that.

sure but they signed Gaudette already for a reason. Think they're shooting for a younger forechecking, high pressure line by the sounds of it

Is the reason you put Marner on the 2nd line defensive ability. We all know Tavares is just too slow to get back when caught in deep and Nylander was moved off that line because he didn't backcheck most nights. It's tough to break up the 2nd best forward combo in the league.

I think it's tough but necessary to break them up to balance the scoring. Marner and Matthews can both drive a line. Marner can take Tavares to higher scoring production, and I still think Matthews is a lock for 55+ goals with Bunting and Nylander. In the playoffs, it makes it harder for defensive matchups.

And, Matthews and Marner broken up ensures that there's a high end defensively responsible forward on each line.

Its not really a line 1 and line 2, its 1a and 1b
