How about Kerfoot for future considerations? That’s about all we would pay I bet.

Cmon Sean walker is worth more than that and the kings don’t want muzzin back with the loaded LD. Even with the retention it’s still an awful move

Oilers will not retain salary. I would rather keep barrie than get Holl.

From the Kings perspective, I don't hate this trade. Muzzin is overrated and overpaid, but he would bring veteran leadership and experience to the Kings lineup, and wouldn't be needed for more than a 2nd or 3rd pairing role. He also moves out the excess RHD (Walker) in exchange for a LHD that they need, while only adding $180k or so to the cap. I don't know that SDA and the draft pick swap are necessary. I think the Kings would consider without those pieces included.

I think the Kings would explore other LHD options before this one, but if nothing else materializes (and if Muzzin is willing to waive his NTC), I could see a trade like this going through. Not sure how Arizona feels about that return for 50% retention. Could throw in SDA and the draft pick swap to further entice them to do it.

Sonny Milano will have signed somewhere before the Leafs have completed those trades

At last, a Muzzin trade that is entirely within the realm of reason. Whether the Kings are actually interested in bringing Muzzin back is a different question, and we won't know 'til it's over, but this proposal is well thought out and makes logical sense. As my cohort @tkecanuck341 says, it might have to be adjusted internally to give Arizona more, but you've done a very fine job here. Well done.

{yet another one of my anti-Toronto screeds I've been accused of issuing reflexively}

There's no chance the Oilers retain money just to grab Holl. Trade Holl for a pick somewhere else.
