I really like this young goalie tandem in NJ. They can also rely on a pretty good defensive group. That's definitely gonna be an interesting team to check out this upcoming year

Guess the contract came in a couple 100k higher than I expected but I cannot really argue with that aav.
Term is perfect as it expires when Daws and Schmid are no longer waiver eligible.
Good signing, hopefully this year the Devils can have some stability in net for once.

Seems rich for a career .908 goalie who has never had a good playoff game

If this was the cost I’m glad the Caps moved on from him

I dont like this for NJD. Vanecek has never had a season with a positive GSAx. The Georgiev contract was concerning too since he had a negative GSAx for the past 2 seasons but at least he had a track record of positive results prior to that (had a positive GSAx in his first 3 seasons)

Don't really understand this. Samsonov got 1.8 and he and Vanecek were pretty similar and inconsistent. Hope it works out for him but for now it seems like an overpay

lol wonder if the more delusional cap fans on here are still mad we moved him to get a legit starter now...? 3.4 million for a guy that hasnt shown he more than a 1b is ... bold? ill take Kuemper + Fucale (dammit) whoever the other guy is ..over him and Sammy. (6.35m) vs (5.2m) ... if we just used MFin Fucale it would be 5.95m ... RIP NHL Fucale

Vanecek had value / perceived to be better. Theres a reason Sammy walked for nothing

Vanecek got Georgiev contract, yet he was better than Georgiev was, but also worse than Samsonov was, who got like only half of the amount Georgiev and Vanecek got.

Good for VV. Hope he pans out. Vanecek had leverage because NJ traded for him + he filed for arbitration, that's why he got much more than Samsonov. Plus maybe there is a bit negative sight on Samsonov's problems being compliant with covid protocols in 20-21 season, he was sidelined a lot.

They signed Charlie Lindgren for 3 years at $1.1 million, so that's the projected back up for Kuemper.

oh i know... BUT im optimistic that theyll send him down to the AHL and call up Fucale at some point. i did the numbers 6.35m assuming Lindgren was the roster backup. 1.15m more for a legit starter + backup is an amazing way to spend the cap

I realize you’re attempting to troll. But saying Martin Brodeur was below average is about as intelligent as saying the world is flat. But perhaps you believe that. In which case, read a book, but also more importantly, watch just about any game of Marty.

As for this signing I think it is a bit rich. I am still hoping Blackwood pans out.
