Description
NJD fans I'm probably short on the offer for Johnsson and Severson. Please be civil in regards to how much. I'm under the assumption that the 2023 first is an obvious requirement, that Johnsson isn't worth much of anything, and that Edmonton can't send cap back to New Jersey if asking for double retention.

Ducks need warm bodies and aren't sacrificing value or 2023 picks to do so. Hopefully a fit here.

Habs probably need to flip Allen once Price is healthy to accommodate but I think their cap works given their LTIR situation.

Petrov and Fanti to start in the ECHL. Bourgault, Broberg, Holloway, and Niemelainen all start in the AHL. Use the start of the season to assess what Samorukov is before looking to bring either Philip or Markus up.

I'm assuming the JP arbitration weighs more in-favour of Edmonton and that a two-year deal is reached in order to up Jesse's trade value should the club look to move the player. I think Yamamoto's case will sway more in his favour based on how the team uses him in the top-six more reliably. McLeod takes a minimum raise to earn arbitration rights sooner before Edmonton commits to him long-term.

The Severson/Johnsson offer is not bad. If we are indeed trading Sevs, it would go into “consider” bucket.

Easy decline for Montreal, they don't have the cap space. Hoffman for Barrie is about the only trade that makes sense for them (but likely doesn't make sense for Edmonton).

On the face of it, the Barrie trade is fair. But Burnout is right that the Habs would have to find a way to lay off at least Byron and likely Hoffman to be able to make this deal. But assuming they can (a big assumption), Evans for Barrie is a reasonable trade.

Edmonton should realize the importance of effective bottom 6 players on reasonable contracts. Evans is more important to the Habs than Barrie would be.
Barron needs the same deployment as Barrie or we're just adopting the same Bouchard/Barrie dilemma the Oilers had.

I'd expect Montreal to give Barron at least a season in Laval to refine his game, no? A year yo split those minutes with Barrie still seems reasonable enough to me.

I feel like you're drastically overvaluing another Montreal player again. There's no direct loyalty to the player given that Bergevin signed the deal. Be reasonable.

Hoffman for Barrie doesn't work for Edmonton unless Montreal retains 50%.

It's a possibility, but I think part of moving Petry and not bringing in another RHD, was to give him a spot. He has 2 years to develop beside Edmundson and work on chemistry with the likes of Suzuki and Caufield.
I feel like that's the better path for him, right now. If he looks too raw out of camp, I might need to reassess.

Barron has had a full year in the AHL. I suspect he's pencilled in for the big team roster, so it's his to lose.
