This team would be immensely fun, and I cannot see the Flames taking that offer in a million years. Bjorky is sensational, but that deal amounts to 40 cents on the dollar for Tkachuk. Plus, are Calgary fans going to tolerate shipping out their OTHER superstar forward to Columbus (of all places) and not getting a king's ransom in return? I would bet against it.

Yeah, this can't be looked at as a real offer. The Jackets would have to be offering their 2023 1st, Texier, Chinakhov and Ceulemans as a base IMO. Maybe Mateychuk instead of Ceulemans.

Is it weird that I don't WANT Columbus to make a move for Tkachuk or Chychrun? I know they're both excellent players in their own rights, but the acquisition cost is so high that I think the juice just isn't worth the squeeze, ultimately.

No, it makes you one of the very few sane people in a world of madness.

I'm not really discussing things with any kind of expectations anymore. I'm just a boy living in a world ruled by Dr. K where anything is possible so I throw out what I think acquiring pretty much any player that might be available could look like.

Tkachuk vs Tom Wilson five times a season would be a dream. No way would I want Columbus to give up what it would cost to acquire him, especially since he'd bolt for St. Louis in a year anyway.

My initial offer was based off of a tweet by Ryan Pike. He basically said that a first rounder, a good roster player, and a prospect would get the job done. I cant see Jarmo trading that first round pick this soon in the "retool" so I dont think thats on the table for CBJ. Jarmo's also been outspoken about his desire to keep Texier so I think he's also off the table. Bean has a lot of potential and is still quite young so personally I think he has more value than what we acquired him for (2nd round pick). Bjorkstrand and Nyquist need to be a part of this deal to make the cap work, and I personally dont see Voracek getting moved. Bemstrom is our last unsigned RFA outside of Laine so I honestly just threw him in because why not. I think the prospects at all on the table are Ceulemans, Pytthia, and maybe Mateychuk or Voronkov. Foudy could also be added to that list but I don't know how much value he adds.

My main focus to be honest was to find a way to make the Cap work. I think there are a lot of untouchables for the Jackets considering the retool could potentially still be in process. As stated in another response I think there are 3-5 prospects outside of the NHL that CBJ would even consider trading: Cuelemans, Pytthia, Mateychuk (Maybe), Voronkov (Maybe), Foudy (CGY likely says no). Anyone else and I think CBJ finds another way to make cap space for Laine.

I think Ceulemans and Mateychuk are off-limits, at least for the moment. Bean would get traded before either; possibly Peeke or Boqvist, too. There's nothing more valuable than top talent on an ELC.

I agree with Mateychuk to an extent. Ceulemans on the other hand I think gets edged out by Jiricek as they play very similar styles but Jiricek has a higher ceiling. Thats the only reason I think hes on the table.

Until such time as Peeke signs a cheap extension to solidify his place on the right side long term, and Boqvist proves he's gonna be worth keeping around, I don't think it's safe to trade Ceulemans.

I don’t want Tkachuk at this price. There really is no way realistically to get Tkachuk and not have to trade Laine. The cap would be a major problem next season and the uncertainty of Tkachuk long term makes this a very bad move. If you read Jarmo’s moves correctly you should see what he is intending to do. Develop young defensemen in Ceulemans, Jiricek, and Mateychuk and set up this team with a young defensive core that will anchor this team for years.
