Description
First off, I don't like trading PLD, but he wants to go home and is under team control for 2 years. If the habs want him now instead of waiting two years or offer sheeting him... then they're gonna have to pay. Ive seen a bunch of varying trades so i kinda went in the middle of it. Will Drouin waive for the jets? I dont know, but a change of scenery should help with the next contract. Who knows? maybe he's good for the jets??

  1. Wheeler, Blake
Additional Details:
I dont really know what Wheeler's value is or will it cost the jets to move him. In this situation, he has value to the Coyotes as a trade chip with retention. Maybe they retain half and ship him to the east coast

  1. van Riemsdyk, James

Additional Details:
Reportedly the cost of moving JVR is a first. I dont imagine Philly wants to move their own so they move FLA's next season
PHI
  1. Harkins, Jansen
Additional Details:
Jets use new found cap space as a way to gain an extra first. Maybe JVR plays well and they ship him off at the deadline for futures.

We did give up a 1st (13th overall) to get Dach, so I don’t think he’s getting moved again.

A Dubois trade centres around an established 2C (Dvorak), and a young defenceman. However, I just don’t see Montreal trading for him while they’re trying their best to be bad.

Extremely unlikely that Chevy accepts two cap dumps, a struggling young player and a 1st when he will easily get more at the TDL two years from now.

If the offers are this poor and don't even meet the rental price of Dubois in 2 years at the TDL, Dubois will 100% be playing this year in Winnipeg.

I just dont seem them as poor
Habs just gave up a 1st and 3rd to get him, he's 21 and a former first
Drouin is for cap reasons and a bit of a reclamation
Hoffman can still score and is under a good contract. Definitely not a cap dump
and a first!!
What do you see as fair value for a guy who quit on one team, announces he wants to leave another team in 2 years and his agent declares he wants to go to MTL?
I mean the jets are a little screwed with the value due to the news of him wanting to either test the market or go to MTL. Getting this package pack isnt bad at all IMO

There’s no reason for the flyers to give up a 1st now. There’s not a lot left on the market that they’d want to use that space on. At this point JVR is on the team and will most likely be moved at the TDL to a contender looking for secondary scoring

I was waiting for this comment haha.
At least his contract isnt bad and they could move him if he's an issue
Still...the guy can score

You're probably right. Unless they wanna bring in one or both Kadri and Klingberg. Kadri in Philly orange is somewhat intriguing

Dubois' value at the TDL in two years is a 1st and good prospect minimum. This is worse than that as the Jets are taking on two cap dumps without compensation. So, it's unlikely Chevy does that.

I like Dach, but he's still a struggling prospect. maybe his wrist injury effects his game more than we think.

Drouin is an entitled, always injured cap dump and Hoffman is a locker room cancer, poor character cap dump. There is a reason no one offered Hoffman a contract before Montreal signed him. No one was desperate enough to waste a contract spot on him.

You can like Drouin and Hoffman, but it still doesn't make then anything but negative value contacts.

You are correct! This is definitely Chevy's current stance.

Only one problem......Dubois still isn't signed....hard to get any value for a player who won't sign a contract... and now that the Jets missed electing for arbitration, PLD is under no obligation to do so now. If PLD decides that he only wants to play for Montreal....and is willing to sacrifice some of his pay to get it... Jets are screwed

Not really. The Jets can play hardball. Dubois is screwed. What's he going to do sit out a year and miss out on a salary?

He's worth more, just not to Montreal. They shouldn't move 1sts and young players/prospects yet. Dubois may very well be a long term 2C solution. He also may not. Same with Dvorak and Dach. Patience is required and the back end needs more attention than the forward group at this stage.

Dubois might be with the team and on the ice, but there's room for doubt on the "100% playing" part, hehe.

Hoffman hasn't stayed healthy and hasn't scored 20 in two years... is older and needs to do all his work on the PP. In winnipeg he will be on the 2 second unit and he doesn't play any defense and can't drive offense except for is shot. Plus he makes 5mil... hes a huge cap dump peroid.

Jets want to be competitive this season. The last thing they want is to have one of their best Centers sitting out. Obviously PLD doesn't want to sit out a year. but if he's looking to force a trade, this is obviously something he can do now (which wouldn't of been an option if Chevy would of just elected for arbitration...)

There are 2 "chocking" points now...training camp/start of the season, and the December RFA deadline. Depending on how badly PLD want's out. these are now his options.....It's all a big game of chicken now between the Jets and PLD.

It just wouldn't be smart on his part to dog it for a year. He is trying to make sue he gets the highest salary possible, it's unlikely he puts on a half assed effort.

Yup. Unless Chevy gets the value he wants for PLD, it will be up to Dubois if he wants to play this year, or sit out the season and push his UFA starts back to 2025.

Chevy did it with Trouba, so the worst case is Dubois sure until December, then signs a contract and finishes out the year in Winnipeg or possibly here mugged at the TDL.

Either way Chevy won't feel any pressure to take a bad deal this year. Yes, the Jets eventually possibly get a 75 cents for a dollar trade, but Chevy won't accept 25 cents on the dollar as proposed here.

I don't think this proposal is 25% of his value.
Eichel returned Krebs, Tuch, and a mid 1st (and a 2nd/3rd pick swap).
Drouin, Dach, and a mid-late 1st is pretty close. Drouin is the weak link, but has comparable age and production to Tuch. You might prefer a player with less warts, but Dubois has some of his own.
Dach and Krebs are likewise similar. Dach has an extra year of experience.
The Florida 1st could be better or worse than the Vegas pick.

Yeah, it's closer to 25% value than it is to Eichel value.

Drouin and Hoffman are both cap dumps and Dach is a struggling prospect. 25%, 35% it doesn't really matter. No matter how you look at it, it's notsomething I can see Chevy giving any consideration to.

The Jets are far better off keeping Dubois for 2 years and moving him at the TDL than taking a low quality, low value return.

They could do one but not both if they moved JVR but I don’t think that’s the direction they want to go. Kadri for one wants to go to a contender. That’s not Philly. And they already have 2 centers locked up at over 7M for the next 4 or 8 years. They’re not going to bring in another. Especially since he’s not a true 1C. And neither are Hayes or Couts.
And Klingberg, they already have Ellis and Risto on the right side locked up at over 5M for the next 5 years and deangelo for the next 2 at 5M. There’s no room for him and even if they felt Ellis was going to be out a while they already have Braun too. But they would be screwed as soon as Ellis was healthy again. They would need to scramble to get cap compliant mid season and would get taken advantage of by a team in a trade who had all the leverage.
I would have preferred them go after Klingberg instead of Deangelo to start with but what’s done is done. Who’s to say he wouldve even wanted to sign here anyways.

Not that Philly fans need more of an excuse to hate Chuck Fletcher but if he were to give up a 1st NOW to move JVR to get one of Kadri or Klingberg but was unwilling to do it earlier to get Gaudreau **** would get biblical and there would be a public stoning on Broad St.
