Half the roster, 3/4 of the prospects, and every draft pick we have wouldn't please them.

That's close, replace Hoffman with Drouin or Armia, replace Norliner and Mysak with Ylonen and Kidney, take out the 4th round pick altogether.

Pretty sure that PLD ends up on a contender for 2 years due to better offers, then either signs w said contender for a chance to the cup or sign in mtl via ufa.

As a non bias fan; I legit think this is a deal that would work.

PLD for a 2023 first (top 5 protected) Christian Dovark, and Joshua Roy .

This gives the Jets a center in return, a 1st rounder and a good prospect in return.

I think PLD would thrive in Montreal too, having him and Suzuki down the middle for 10 years would be great.

It’s gonna take either Caufield or Suzuki I fear. And if not Habs are gonna have to give up something like Dvorak, Guhle, Norlinder, and their first rounder, likely even more.

Montreal is not trading Roy at this point and the 1st would have to be top 10 or even top 15 protected because of just how deep the 2023 draft is. At 10 you can still probably get a Suzuki/PLD level center plus we are giving up Roy and Dvorak?! I don't think so, Montreal would be better off waiting and seeing if they can get him for free later.

Then he stays in Winnipeg and we go after him in FA cause that ask is just flat out stupid!

What about:

Dvorak, Ylonen, Mysak, Drouin (50% retained) and the lower of the 2 '23 first rounders? Could leave the 4th in there too if it makes any difference

Doesn't seem too crazy but I'm not a fan of moving Roy here

Umm . . . did you forget that Evgeni Dadonov invoked his NTC to veto a trade to Anaheim? Hard to imagine that we'd want him even if he changed his mind.

Yes but the top 6 could end up being Fantilli/Bedard/Dvorksy-Suzuki-Caufield and Slaf-PLD-Mesar in a few years and thats a very solid top 6 if everything goes right.
At some point habs are gonna have to either get a top RD cuz Guhle might be a top 2 but needs a RD partner, hopefully either mailloux or Barron does end up being that, if not, trade a solid prospect for a solid rd prospect

The Habs are never doing that, Chevy doesn't have much leverage in this situation.

Well what's really different about that than what I'm suggesting? Seems about the same.

When you say lower of the two 2023 1sts do you mean the later pick? I assume that the Panthers pick will be later than the Habs 1st will be.

Slight difference that's all, I'd rather keep Kidney personally. The retention probably would be held off now that I'm looking at it again, would need the cap to resign PLD long term

Yea the later pick, probably the Florida pick

The worse of Montreal's and Florida's 1st.
Roy hurts to lose, but it's an option.
Dvorak works.
For that price Hoffman has to be included for cap.
If Winnipeg gets a top 10 pick out of the deal, they send Montreal a 3rd.
Winnipeg will probably have to include a minor prospect or two for contract purposes.

I'm down for something like that from a Jets perspective though I'm like the only Jets fan on here that is cool with this prospective return for Dubois.. lol.. Would just want Drouin or Armia rather than Hoffman.

Hoffman is in the way if we sign Dubois. Drouin is gone after this season and Armia is still a bottom 6 option, whereas Hoffman is not. Then there's the salary difference and term.
You're getting Roy and a shot at a top 10 pick because Hoffman is included. Without him, it's Florida's 1st top 10 protected and a lesser prospect.
