Couple More Moves

Description
I still think the Pens need to move another defenseman to be competitive. The bottom 6 as is just isn't going to cut it if they want to contend in my opinion. As currently constructed they are a worse team than they were at the end of last year. So more moves still have to be made.

I've seen others make this similar trade for Puljujarvi. I didn't really see a reason for EDM to do it - but it seems to be viewed as a fair trade. And if possible, I think it's one the Pens should make. If not, they can keep Kap - or trade him and sign Erod or Milano.

I don't know how Niederrieter isn't signed yet - but I'm hoping since he's lasted this long and other teams are struggling with the cap as well that he can be had for a somewhat affordable amount.

The D pairings are a bit tough to figure out. I don't like righty righty, but the other option is putting Smith or POJ on the 2nd pairing and benching Ruhwedel - who had a really good year this year. Plus Petry talked about liking a more defensive defenseman as his partner - which Rutta fits a lot better than POJ/Smith. Obviously Petry isn't the coach - but if he feels he plays better with a certain type of dman I'm sure the coaches also see that he plays better with a defensive defenseman.

Kap won’t be moved, he’ll likely win his arb and sign at a cost that *doesnt* fit our needs, opposite of what Hextall thinks is gonna happen….

Anyways, yea the forward core needs one more addition or 2 or this was all for nothing. I can’t see how you’d expect anything different running almost the same group from last year that clearly couldn’t hold up the scoring. This whole one line team reliant thing needs to have an end put to it.

Side note: Zucker would still find a way to sell that playing time on the first line lmaoooooo

That Petterson trade is perfect value it’s just seattles not the right team since they already got
Dunn
Oleksiak
Soucy
The trade would be perfect if it was too a different team that needed a top 4 LD

I agree it's very unlikely. People seemed to think the trade was fair though so I just threw it in there since I do think it would make the team better. Nino/Carter/Kap would still be a fine 3rd line I think if Carter and Kap can play even just a little better than last year.

Agreed - if we brought Malkin, Letang, etc back just to throw out this bottom 6 - I think it was a waste as well. Honestly, I would be happier if it was the same group from last year lol. The one/two line team complaint has been talked about for how long and somehow it's actually getting worse haha.

Side note: If those are the three LW on the team - personally that is the order I would put them in. I think it gives the best depth

You're definitely right. Whenever I do a Pettersson trade I usually add the "any team" clause in the description. I forgot to this time. I usually just pick Seattle because it attracts the least amount of attention haha.
