Description

This example shows how the Devils can trade for Matthew Tkachuk while still holding on to Jesper Bratt. It becomes very difficult due to the salary cap. Not a fan of the defensive core here at least to start. When Nemec is ready to make that jump to the NHL it should look better. In this scenario it becomes difficult to sign future RFA's and UFA's.

That's a little better of a Tkachuk trade. One guy wants Bratt and Holtz. Yeah right buddy. I don't want to trade Holtz but you have to give to get.

I think Bratt should be 7 max. I'd be more comfortable with 6.8.

I'd do that in a heartbeat for Tkachuk. Very small price to pay, assuming he's signing long term in NJ.

Not enough to get Tkachuk. Severson's too old and an UFA soon. Johnsson has significant issues and has lost value with his play the last two years--he also is too old.

essentially a trade should look like
NHL 2nd line 20-30 goal scorer + up and coming young player + NHL ready prospect + 1st or 2nd round pick

From what I see Holtz is the NHL ready prospect and you have the picks--but are missing the rest.
