The only way it works for Dallas is if the Flames take Faksa, Gurianov and Khudobin. Those are essentially cap dumps to make Tkachuk fit into their cap. Then the Flames would need a serious + to make it work

I think Wyatt Johnston would be highly coveted by the Flames if they were taking on that amount of "bad" money

Tkachuk isn’t Guri, Bourque, and a first better than Hintz

A 3m third string goalie, an overpaid bottom 6 C and Gurianov, who will struggle to play under Sutter? Yes they're gonna ask for Johnston

Yeah, no chance. If Johnston is involved in a Tkachuk trade it’s as the main piece, not to dump cap that would be worth about a 3rd to dump. Plus I don’t care what system Gurianov plays, he isn’t even close to being a cap dump. He cannot get possibly treated worse than how Bones treated him and this year.

You don’t use one of the best prospect’s in the league to dump a little cap.

And? Dallas would pay handsomely for Tkachuk, that’s not the point, the point is that you don’t trade a future number 1 centre for free. Gurianov offsets both of the cap dumps.

Yes Calgary is going to ask for Wyatt Johnston if Dallas wants Tkachuk. Calgary would have to take on Faksa/Khudobin/Gurianov. Which comes back to the point that Calgary would want Johnston, especially if they are taking on those guys.

Oh, I thought you meant it would cost Johnston just to dump them, now you make sense. Obviously Dallas wouldn’t trade for Tkachuk, but hypothetically it’d probably cost Johnston, Bourque, Gurianov, Faksa, Dobby, 1st, 2nd (that turns into a 1st with certain conditions (not sure what though)).

Oh yes, sorry for the misudnerstanding.

Tkachuk's upcoming salary likely equals Faksa/Khudobin/Gurianov

Then you get into the Johnston+whatever which is what the Flames would want. I really like Stankoven, wanted the Flames to take him in 2021.

Anyway, Dallas has the best prospect pool of the teams listed which is why I'm hoping they are the destination.

Stankoven and Bourque can be switched out for each other, doesn’t make a huge difference.

I personally don’t think Nill will make a huge blockbuster, but we’ll see.

The way your comment read you want Johnston JUST for taking on that salary not even for Tkachuk. Which is insane. Nobody is giving up a prospect that good to dump some salary. Guri shouldn’t be in the deal. Not a fit. But can be moved elsewhere for positive value. Dobby can be moved elsewhere for a reasonable price. Faksa is likely movable. If not his buyout is very manageable. If Hintz is the main piece in the deal that should absolutely take our top prospects off the table. Honestly looking at things, Dallas was likely off the table as a potential Tkachuk destination asa they signed Marchment

That isn’t what was said tho. Y’all were talking like you’d want Johnston JUST for taking on the extra cap.

This makes more sense. Johnston as the main piece would be tolerable, but not on top of Hintz imo. This deal would require a lot of other movement and as I said in my other post I feel like the fact that we already committed cap to Marchment complicates things

I think there's no chance Dalald would move Hintz

Dallas would make this move to have a Robertson-Hintz-Tkachuk line

It would be a complicated deal. I don't know what Tkachuk would ask for. Anyways, Dallas would have to play hardball with Oettinger and Robertson just to shave enough off the AAV's to be cap compliant

I could see them considering Hintz with all the center prospects we have, but I don’t love it tbh. Like I said this would be much more doable without Marchment. Tkachuk on the top line this year creates balance problems. Pavs, Segs, and Benn need to be on separate lines with guys that can carry them
