Depends on how this season goes. If players develop and perform close to expectations for the full season under MSL, it's only the D and G keeping Montreal at the bottom of the standings. Scoring dried up under Ducharme but returned with St Louis.
Young D are going to have to make up for Petry's absence and having Edmundson available will help the goaltending some.

Let me ask you this:

Let's imagine a scenario in which the Avs offered their 2024 1st, 2025 2nd, JTC and, let's say Foudy, would you take it? Keep in mind MTL could flip JTC to someone else for more assets, maybe something as high as a 2nd but probably more like a 3rd - he doesn't have to play a minute for you.

I think they'd have to accept simply because it's an arguably higher return than what they paid to acquire him and it gives Hughes assets to spend toward bringing in someone of his choosing should Dach fail to fill the 2C role. Montreal has to either address needs or get good value in their trades. The original proposal is close to breaking even, but doesn't do either of those things. Your proposal is at least good value.
Dvorak isn't boom or bust. Even if he doesn't take the 2C role he's still a strong 3C, so I'm comfortable keeping him even if his market value is lower than what we paid. We might as well use him as a 3C if we're not gaining on our investment in a trade.
