Wonder what a huberdeau extension looks like in CGY, are we thinking 9.5-10x6?

Not sure why he’d get traded along with a huge package for Tkachuk and then get the same number as Tkachuk. He’s not better than Gaudreau or Tkachuk. Probably 8x8.5-9 or something

Not gonna lie a Dcore of

Weegar-Andersson
Hanafin-Tanev
Kylington-Zadorov aint bad

Would have liked maybe Zadorov to **** off and bring in someone like Bear or a cheaper gritty Dman but hey not bad

Forsberg extension is the least 9.5 mill x 8 years most

If the cap raises it could be as high as 8 x 11. But he will be taking a full deal.

Was thinking a lesser contract bc of his age but thinking about it a bit more an 8 year deal would be smarter
8x11 seems a tad high, imo highest I’d go is 8x10.75

Not a huge difference between 10.75 and 11 honestly tears of joy

Very true, but it could be the difference between being able to afford your 14F or not
I guess I’m very picky with getting as much value as possible

Having either Forsling or Montour as #2D in a Paul Maurice system is a recipe for disaster

Tbh Denisenko and Balcers aren’t that great, and I wonder how Bennett will do without Huberdeau. This is still a downgrade on last year’s forward group, and obviously losing Weegar is a huge hole in their defense. Tkachuk+Barkov might be a top 3 duo in the league though, and I’m pretty confident in Lundell’s ability to fill that 2C hole. Don’t forget that Duke is out half the year though btw, which makes their depth even weaker (probably Hornqvist at 3RW, slide Balcers up to 2LW and Verhaeghe goes to 1LW or something).

Balcsrs is a very good two way middle 6winger, i don’t think Denisenko has too 6 upside at this point but he can bring a dynamic element to the middle 6.

Bennetts counting stats will definitely go down without Huberdeau, but Bennett actually played really well without Huberdeau last season. 57% xGF in 300 min TOI

I think the forward group is as good as last year , but they are a worse team overall - not by much, but they need to add a top 4 D. I like it for Florida short and long term though

Weegar + healthy Tanev would legitimately be the best shutdown duo in the league and it’s not close. They could probably match up better than Zadorov and Gudbranson 💀💀 Not that that will still be a line, or you’ll just get caved in whenever anyone else is on the ice.

lol you seirously think those 2 will be slow down McDrai, did u watch the playoffs this year? they turned it up to 11 and that was with Drai only having one good leg

In all seriousness though, if the Panthers had tabled Huberdeau and Weegar to start, what in the actual ham-fisted hell were St. Louis or Carolina supposed to offer? How does offering anything less than Rob Thomas or Andy Svechnikov even keep the Flames on the call?

I still don't believe it's real despite all evidence to the contrary. I still do a double take when I see the full trade.

Oh yeah...Maurice.

Lmao they need a D...pretty quick.

Luckily there seems to be excess guys in Calgary right now so maybe they should poach one from there.

Given CGY was ready to take pending UFAs guys like Max Pacioretty, Vladimir Tarasenko and Ryan O'Reilly would've definitely been in the talks.

Obviously Panthers had best guys to offer.

Yeah I do think that the two best defensive defensemen in the league can play good defense if they’re both healthy. Against anybody. They certainly won’t let Draisaitl score 3 points per game. Which is really all we needed. If Markstrom has even an average series rather than his worst week of the entire season then we’ll be fine. Especially if we add another forward or two, which we probably will.

So, Florida can't buyout Hornqvist at this point, right? Window is closed and they have no arb filings?

If that's the case, then you gotta think they're either getting bent over a table to move him or trading a solid player for less than they're worth (a la Bjorkstrand).

Tarasenko has nay-nayed any deal to Calgary for at least two years now. This is public information. If I'm Flames GM, Ryan O'Reilly is not a name I'm excited to trade Tkachuk for.

Vegas never belonged in this conversation and the shell of Max Patches is not the calibre of player you trade Tkachuk for.

Prediction - FLA dumps Hörnqvist with 2026 1st round pick and signs Klingberg to fill that D.

Very good middle six is pushing it. He’s an above average 3LW, below average 2LW imo. And I just don’t believe in Denisenko at all anymore. They should’ve tried to use his name value to ship him out at the deadline rather than Smilanic or whatever. Bennett with Denisenko and Hornqvist is not a recipe for success imo but at least that line will be big and physical.

Calgary will have a tonne of cap space to sign him to a big extension and they got that extra year as a weapon

As with the cap going up by a mill not many teams will be able to afford him without dumping contracts and that takes time
