Changing rankings was a subject that was only broached 2-3 days before the draft started and after everyone had already agreed to the current list.
The player someone gets before you has no bearing, whether they make the selection or it is done for them. That would be an issue regardless of what list we use.
Maybe not for you, but for someone else. Bottom line is that we knew how these rankings looked and agreed to use them in spite of the possible flaws.
If you want to be sure to get the player you're after, your best option is, and always has been, to trade up.
Your pick should be based on who is available when you select, not who might have been available if another team hadn't selected him. If you're counting on teams ahead of you not picking your player(s), you might want to revise your drafting strategy. I myself moved from #4 to #3 to guarantee I got either my player or someone better, and I did it early to avoid any last minute pick trading nonsense.
