Description
I have zero idea why Winnipeg didn't trade Sheifele or Wheeler.

They really need to tear it down.

Thoughts on the 3 trades?

Don't worry about the lines here.

Yeah there is no chance Calgary is trading that 1st now. Let alone adding a top prospect

Calgary shouldn't be trading their 1st this year without protection

A pretty easy no for Winnipeg in every trade.

Well it certainly won't be top 5 either so no. Calgary has way too much depth to fall into the bottom 10 but not enough offense to be more than a bubble team at best (like the Islanders/Stars last year)

Not really, you just need to use a little logic to break down the trades.

Dumping Monahan costs Calgary a 1st and the remainder isn't enough for Scheifele.

The Jets aren't retaining that much and taking a worse cap dump back for a 1st.

The two firsts cover the two cap dumps Montreal is sending, leaving a worthless prospect in exchange for Dubois.

Why would the Jets do that?

Explain how PLD is worth 3 1sts and Eichel only got 1 and a top prospect?! Eichel had basically 5 60 point seasons, PLD 1. Eichel had an 80 point season PLD 0. Yeah PLD does not get 3 1sts, 1 top 10 protected 1st + one of Drouin/Hoffman/Armia/Byron + one of Tuch/Mysak/Struble/Norlinder that's about it sorry.

To be fair, Tuch had the most value in the Eichel trade by a long shot (in the package). HUGE power forward who can get 50-60 pts a year. Signed long term at a good price. Eichel also needed neck sugery.

But I definitely may have over paid here. Won't argue with that.

Yes there was risk and Tuch was a really good add for Buffalo the point though is Drouin is a 50 point player if healthy (I would personally add a conditional 2nd incase he doesn't play 50+ games) so that offsets some of the point production lost from PLD then you add Dvorak a 30-40 point center (based on his production so far not his projected ceiling) to replace PLD on the 2nd line in Winnipeg. Between just those 2 you have replaced PLD's point loss and then some. Add that top 10 protected 1st and a B prospect and that would be a win for the Jets.

I wouldn’t pay two 1st for the whiner who wants to get out of Winnipeg after wanting out of Columbus. Next thing he will complain about the pressure in Montreal.

Reinhart went for a good goalie prospect and a 1st round pick.

Not a chance Dubois gets 3 1st round picks and 2 roster players... if anything he will get less than Reinhart with his off ice antics demanding trades as an RFA (essentially twice now within 2 years).

Yeah Montreal’s really not in a position to trade 2 1sts even if they’re lottery protected.

I believe it doesn't make sense for CGY to trade for Scheifele now

In what world is Philly trading their 2023 1st with JVR for Blake Wheeler, but unwilling to do so to free up cap space for Johnny Gaudreau. No shot in hell
