Nicely done bud. Realistic trades where both teams gain something they need from the trade.

Pens don't need an overpayed player that belongs in the bottom-6. They need a top-4 D-man.

They have one Dman in the top 4....Letang. Sorry, this salary cap sucks.

You really don't classify Maata or Pouliot as a top 4 dman?

Realistic but just the first step needed for teams to escape salary cap hell (if possible.) To quote someone from long ago, "the trade was made to hurt both teams"

So your saying that they need to trade Scuderi for a top 4 Dman? Your missing the point of the trade............SCUDERI IS GONE. Every Pans fan should of just jizzed their pants when I just said that.

Get your top 4 dman whatever way necessary but getting rid of Scuderi has nothing to do with that.

Precisely palhal. this trade serves only one purpose. To shake things up and hopefully the garbage you receive is able to be recycled instead.

Only problem I see is that Erixon would be claimed off waivers easily.

Try packaging Kunitz, Erixon and a 3rd for prospect of value.

I will try to address everyone.

Palhal- there are 4 D man in the top-4. That's kinda why it's called top-4. Letang, Maatta, and Pouliot r only 3.

    mtdavis311- Maatta and Pouliot r only 2 players. There r 4 in the top-4.

F50marco- Nobody said the pens have to trade Scuds for a top-4 dman. If they r gonna trade him, it will either be for a low pick or a prospect, not an overpayed 3rd liner.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but with waivers it's when a player is sent down right? So let's say Erixon starts in the AHL. If he's called up, that's fine. It's when he's sent back down that he's subject to waivers.

So can he start in the AHL. If he's called up he's stuck. Ymmv.

Nope, you still don't get it, Scuderi isn't worth even 15th round pick in 2025 or a prospect who doesn't know how to skate. He's not worth anything! You say overpayed 3rd liner for Bickell but Scuderi is an overpaid AHL PLAYER! What team in their right mind would rather have Scuderi than literally any player they can pick up in free agency right now or a rookie in the minors who has a little bit of potential? Nobody! I would rather play 5 Dman in the game with 13 forwards then take on Scuderi for free. There is literally nothing a team sees in scuderi that is worth taking him and his salary unless.....

    example:

Your garbage player whose over paid (Scuderi)
    for
My ggarbage player who is over paid. (Bickell)

Both players have 2 years left. Bickell is marginally more expensive but arguably better than Scuderi so it evens out. At least this way each guy has a chance to redeem himself and both players get fresh starts. That's all it is. If the experiment fails buy them out of the last year of their contracts and problem solved. But this fairy tale mentality that these garbage players have even a little bit of value still is astonishing. There's no easy way out of getting rid of him!
