It's also a re-writting of history. Eichel wanted out following the first Covid season, 2019-20, long before he was injured and his request was denied.

They never said he could get his surgery so he wouldn’t move until they let him go somewhere that did. That’s all it is

How is that rewriting history? Yeah thats the point - he requested a trade long before he was injured.

Why in the hell would the Sabres let him get the surgery when they know that he doesn't want to put on a Sabres jersey again, and that they'll be able to trade him without the surgery?

Even if you didn’t trade him he could’ve just sat out and gotten 10M per year to do nothing

They probably would just suspended him if they didn't trade him

Nope; that's a lazy opinion. Have you actually looked into the research or are you just going off of Eichel and camp's narrative? I dont think the Sabres handled it perfectly, but to think it was "completely unreasonable" is a copout political opinion so you can feel good about yourself. It was an unprecedented situation. Truth is, I wouldn't have wanted to be on either end of the situation. Would have been hard making the decisions around that. Both sides had valid concerns, Eichel's were the only ones that ppl like yourself could connect with emotionally.

It's mind boggling people still think like this. Seriously - why would Buffalo assume 100% of the risk of the surgery when they know they're going to have to trade him after? Answer that question. Please.
