Chucky but hear me out

Created by: Dmaz026
Team: 2022-23 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 21, 2022
Published: Jul. 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Essentially almost every team on Chuckys list cant afford him or the package wont be as good. My money is on STL however for fun lets see this situation for Buffalo.

Sabres trade Mitts, JJP, Rosen and a 2024 1st for Chucky and Monahan. Yes its a steep price... Chucky isnt cheap. He brings a ton of different aspects to his game. BUT i know the sabre fans want to build through the draft and all but realistically... were only gonna be able to keep so many prospects. Even after this trade we have Power, Quinn, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Johnson, Portillo, Levi, Cozens, Krebs and TONS more all UNDER 22. Trade a few good pieces to cut the rebuild 2-3 years shorter.

CAL gets a Young C (Mitts) who could use a change of scenery, Rosen who has a wicked shot and a 1st round grade, JJP who has shown he has skill in the AHL scoring 35 goals with 45 assists in 80 games. and under his ELC for 3 more years. Along with a 2024 unprotected 1st I think Cal is getting a good price for chucky.

Chucky wants to win... Buffalos not a sexy destination with NY taxes snow and a LOOOONG playoff drought. However... Johnny Hockey went to CBJ after tons of speculation of him going elsewherevso its POSSIBLE (not likely) lol that he could sign in BUF. Close to Ontario where his brother plays and is about 17 hours closer to home (by car).

Cutting the rebuild short is always better in theory than in practice. Real issue here is the Sabres don’t have a tendy so Tkachuck won’t sign. Then you have to factor in that’s he’s gonna command upwards of ten million in a state with much lower taxes than NY. Believe me I’m not saying this cause I think he would sign on the Island. He won’t.

Too much, Rosen is not a throw in even if no one gives him any respect on here. Id rather move Quinn than Peterka as well

I wouldn’t go that far when it comes to Quinn V Petarka. But I will say that trading for Tkachuck doesn’t make much sense for Buffalo since they need a starting Tendy and a top pair righty d man before they can contend.

They have Levi, whos probably signing a contract at the end of his college year and may play games in Buffalo, they also have UPL fighting for a spot. Comrie has under rated advanced stats and Anderson would have had Buffalo in the playoffs last year if he was healthy the entire year. So other than a top 10 goalie, or an overpaid Starter, they have pretty much every other iteration of a goaltender a team could have

Dahlin is a pretty good top pair right D so I dont know why they would need another

I’m not sure his long term future is on his off side. And I like Jokiharju but he wasn’t super stellar when I saw him live. And remember I watched him against the isles forward core which isn’t fantastic.

I agree hes not a throw in but hes also not out top prospect either. Wont be able to keep every prospect. Trading 2 for a player that hit 100 points and is under 25 its a steep package but i think KA would be crazy for not atleast trying

Dahlin played RD in Sweden, LD is his off-side, it wasnt until he got to the NHL that he was switched. He says he prefers his offside in the Ozone, and he and Samuelsson work well together to switch up sides depending on the flow of the puck. Thats why Samuelsson is also a stud and is currently underrated

Rosen is pretty high up there though, Peterka and Quinn are NHL ready, so ignoring those, Id put him 2nd behind Savoie right now.

Sabres tried cutting the rebuild short more than once and it ended in utter disaster. That isn't the Adams way. Don't want Tkachuk even if he would sign long term. We will have crazy winger and centre depth, our question mark is in goal and the right side defense. That is where we need to shore up
