Nice cap hit for someone of PLD's caliber, but he's proving to be NHL's answer to Ben Simmons. Quits on his team and makes excuses when he wants out, buyer beware is all I'll say.

This is the best outcome for everyone but the Habs.(outside of him signing for 8 years of course)

The Jets either keep him for this year and trade him next off season(its not like we can get more for him now compared to next June 25) to MTL

or the Jets trade him to a contender for some considerable value as he is cheap and still has a year left after this one.

This dudes attitude really just rubs me the wrong way. If I'm the Jets I trade him to a team that gives me the best deal and is also as far away from Montreal as possible just for spite.

At the situation where the Jets are...yeah that's probably the most decent scenario.

They're f*cked anyway.

This has been a brutal week for many Canadian hockey fans. It’s a shame b/c the atmosphere at games in WPG is insane and the fan base deserves better.

Only if he agrees to sign a long term extension. Otherwise, he’s TDL bait for the next 2 seasons.

Last time he was traded, didn't he also just sign a contract to make himself tradeable?

Looks about right considering the scoring right he produced at this past season. Kind of impressed they got just a 1 year deal done so that he remains an RFA at the end of the deal, thought maybe PLD's camp would have pushed harder for 2 years of term to walk him to free agency in that time, which would also potentially lower his trade value since team's would then see that Dubois as an asset is an essentially a time bomb in that scenario. Heck, that could still come to fruition if Dubois since another 1 year deal after this and isn't traded before arbitration filings for next off-season are due

It's a "good" deal, as in he should play well enough to justify the $6 million cost. HOWEVER, it almost guarantees he is gone by the trade deadline.

At this point I think the most likely outcome is that he stays the year and is traded in the summer as a RFA, like Chevy & the Jets did with Trouba. They kept Copp up until he was a UFA too.

HA! just to spite you Pierre-Luc, you will have to go play hockey in sunny California, mhuhahahah, so far from home. Take that.
Yeah, that will teach him.

I think we kid our selves if we believe he's the only player to ask for a trade out of a city or a coach change.
For whatever reason, with him, it's always publicly known.
I think what Tavares and Gaudreau did was worst.
They will get some value out of him. And he never signed a contract with the Jets, (except this one) why would he need to have loyalty towards them?

I remember when he left CBJ and I was like “dude only wants to play for the Canadiens.”

And everyone was like, “no, you’re an asshole he just doesn’t want to play for CBJ.”

And yet…

What’s with these short-term PLD contracts. Seems teams are very skittish about having this guy for long term.
