1) It's a great signing for the calibre of player.

2) Florida is a garbage nonsense state for rich people and morons.

3. Your a leafs fan, that's even worse

Harsh, but accurate.

Probably could have gotten $10 million, elsewhere, so call it a win.

The question now is who is going to play defense and how are they going to get rid of Hornqvists contract. Unless the trade Verhaeghe for a defenseman they are looking mighty thin on the back end. Maybe trade Hornqvist and Verhaege to anaheim to get them closer to the cap floor and sign Klingberg for a cheap-ish deal.

Keep in mind, $9.5M in Florida is roughly $5,619,180 after tax (before escrow/agent fees/...).
The only other places where a $10M salary is worth more than $5,619,180 after tax are Dallas, Nashville, Seattle, Tampa, or Vegas.

In order to get the same take home in Calgary, he'd need a salary of $10,755,631. That's 13.21% higher.

well maybe I guess but so me it just seems like he was just playing well in a contract year

I am die hard Oilers fan I am hard wired to hate anything to Calgary, and Tkachuk specifically has done a couple of things, he would drop the gloves with Kass when after Kass was made that he kept hitting him and he has also done some stuff to McDrai that I didn't like and plus everything he tries to do a between the legs goal it ticks me off

If Edmonton can't get passed a Central Division Team in the playoffs, McDavid isn't sticking around either. There's no excuses for the oilers this year, they have one of the best teams in the Western Conference.

How was he able to sign a 8 year contract? I thought the window to sign for max term was closed last week. Unless that window only applied to UFA status and not RFAs.

The top 6 and G are good but the bottom 6 and D are still not quite as good for a contending team. Their forward RWs are one of the worst when compared to cup contending teams.

he is never getting 100 points ever again

Playing with Barkov? I think it's certainly doable.

Overpay on the trade

Florida is an amazing & diverse State (racially & financially) full of wonderful people (and jerks like everywhere else)

It does have tax advantages that the league should address to make a level playing field for other teams. Weegar and Huberdeau just got forced pay cuts and Florida has an advantage in signing UFAs

Still, as both a Preds and Golden Knights fan, I very much hope they don’t fix it anytime soon.

Cuz only Flames could have signed him to an 8-year deal.

It's a sign-and-trade.

Considering the style that Tkachuk plays, Im surprised he vanished in the playoffs. He has continued to show a ' me first' attitude, and I doubt it improves in Florida, limiting what they accomplish as a team. 9.5 is on the highside but far from terrible.

Fantastic deal for Florida in a vacuum. They did also just trade Huberdeau and Weegar though, so...

What are you on man

I mean Gaudreau could’ve got more money if he went to Calgary or New Jersey.

Are you sure? He’ll be on a line with Aleksander Barkov, that should be enough? Right?

Barkov has never hit 100, not even when he was playing with Huberdeau.

Did Calgary have to pay the 8mil signing bonus for this year? If so, that "might" persuade me to vote that FL won the subsequent trade.
