Gonna cost more than that to dump Hörnqvist. Probably that 2023 2nd you got left.

Any amateur gm on this site can see that Florida got robbed (if those two resign in Calgary, no reason why they can't). It's a fireable offense for the Flordia GM.

I guess that kind of depends on if the owner held a gun to the GMs head and said get Matty Tkachuk. Sure is a bit of a head scratcher though, figured the flames would have their backs against the wall due to limited signing locations.

I feel like the entire league and every non Calgary fan was just on an episode of punk'd.

But what would you say if training camp opens in 2023 and Huberdeau is in a Montreal sweater and Weegar is in Las Vegas and that 2025 first is two years away from being named?

Don't be so quick to pass judgment. It may take a year to find out who really won this trade.

We won't need any help (i.e., taking on an inflated contract) getting to the cap floor. We're within $8.5 million of it now with 5 roster slots still open, one of which will go to Isac Lundestrom, who should get $1.5 million. The Boston guys are dying to trade us Mike Reilly for a third, and the St. Louis guys are dying to give away Marco Scandella, and either one would put us over the hump. We could take on a cap dump, but that would only be with an incentive -- and a fifth and a seventh aren't an incentive, they're window dressing.

    named?

Vegas has way too many cap issues to sign Weeger. They traded Patrioretty for nothing to get near the cap ceiling
