Initial Creation Date: Jul. 23, 2022
Published: Jul. 23, 2022

Description
I know they're ufa's after this season but damn if they keep them under contract, they have an elite first line forward, top pairing dman, great prospect, AND a 1st rounder for an elite first line forward? Pure robbery. I'm surprised with Florida

definitely, if they're locked down like they should be (Huberdeau waived his NTC so no reason why not), should contend for cup next several years. I don't feel so bad for them.

First of all, on what planet is Schwindt a "great prospect"? He's like a C+ prospect, B- at best, with likely a 3rd/4th line swing ceiling. More importantly, if one of those guys walks next summer with no Cup ring, it immediately turns into a very bad deal. If both walk without Calgary winning the Cup, it's an absolute horror show. And let's be honest: this team ain't winning the Cup. This is a huge gamble, and we won't know if Calgary made out on the deal until next July.

That was my take on it. Calgary is trying too hard to keep the remnants together. Having Gaudreau walk and Tkachuk wanting out should have started a retool to get some younger players to grow into the core of a future cup team. Not trade Tkachuk for soon to be UFAs and possibly set this team back many years. Pressure is on Calgary to make this work but I think they are going to have to offer mad money to Huberdeau, though.

Amen. If training camp opens in 2023 and Weegar is in Las Vegas and Huberdeau is wearing le bleu blanc et rouge, the same people who are now saying Florida got fleeced will be extolling Zito's foresighted genius. Remember that we already know how this trade turned out for the Panthers -- Tkachuk signed an 8-year deal with them.

Let's not all rush to judgment.

named?

Vegas has way too many cap issues to sign Weeger. They traded Patrioretty for nothing to get near the cap ceiling, how the hell are they going to sign Weeger?!

I'm predicting that they move Alec Martinez either this summer or at the trade deadline. You read it here first.
