I wonder if Huberdeau re-ups in Calgary. If he doesn't do it this offseason... He is probably testing free agency.

Personally, I think Huberdeau said to Florida management that he will try to test the free agency market.

My prediction: Huberdeau to MTL.

That is literally the only reason this trade makes any sense. Calgary gets a year to try and convince him, but he's probably more of an "early rental" for a contender

It's hard to say.

I do think Gaudreau's free agency should serve as a cautionary tale for players. Johnny had essentially the perfect walk year, 90 even strength points, that's almost unheard of.

Despite the fantastic season there still wasn't much of a market for him. It's up to Huberdeau though, if he wants money he stays in Calgary

I think Huberdeau want more to win a cup than stay for money, and if Montreal draft in the top 3 at the next upcomming draft and also Dubois likely coming to them, I think that's will be his choice.

If Calgary is going nowhere and he is testing FA, they can flip him for a lot with 50% retained. That's 100pts player with 2,75 mil cap hit, sure it's for couple months but still worth a shot.

Yup he will be worth alot. Question is if they are in the playoff race do they?
I think to consider this trade a win, you need to re-sign them or get value from them as a rental.
Fascinating to see how it will unfold

They could be in playoff race, they most likely will be, in the end they lost one 100pts player, but I don't think they will be serious contender. They will be some serious decisions made by the time of trade deadline.
