Not sure you move cap that easy

Out of curiosity, anyone know what happens when you trade a pick that was part of a conditional protection in another deal?
Example, Florida trades 2024first with a top 10 protection that if the panthers tank they get pick 2025. 2025 is now gone. Does Florida lose their protection?

The conditions transfer to the new owner of the pick. So basically nothing happens

Blue Jackets just gave up Bjorkstrand for almost nothing because they had cap issues. Two 4ths won't be enough for Hornqvist.

Difference is Bjorkstrand has 4 years left vs Hornqvist's 1 year left

And? Bjorkstrand actually has a great contract unlike Hornqvist who's overpaid even if it's just for a year.
