Thoughts on the trade:
I think on Florida’s part it was bad for them but also on Calgary’s part too, here’s why.
I believe Florida downgrades from Huberdeau >Tkachuk. I know Tkachuk brings more tenacity but Huberdeau was just 2nd in scoring (only to McDavid). They also trade weegar who is a good top 4 defenceman.+ A prospect and a First round pick, All for Tkachuk?🫤
On Calgary’s behalf they get an upgrade in huberdeau(only for one season though because he and Weegar won’t resign) and when you look past both those guys you just trades Tkachuk for a prospect and a first.
The only option to fix that would be to move both them at the deadline( unless your like top 4 in the league)and hope they come back because the win the cup or something.
I’m not a salty blue fan or anything but I think the blues offer would be better but maybe not?

No chance man, just imagine what a contending team would pay for hubie at less than 3mill for a rental cup run. Hagel got two 1sts! HAGEL!!!!! even if the flames are a contender at the deadline, without an extension, tre can't let him get to UFA. This city was in the ruins with JG hitting UfA. People wanted Tres head. He won't let that happen again and would get a kings ransom just for Hubie. Imagine what dubas would pay to add the second highest scorer to a contending leafs team to help them end a massive drought! That alone covers the chucky trade, let alone weegar.

On the outside, it looks like Florida lost the trade but either hubbie wasn't happy and wanted out or he told them what tkachuk told Tre. He wasn't staying after this year. and it was better to move him now than at the TDL.

Your probably right on if CGY trades Huby and Weegs at TDL they’ll get 3 firsts minimum, so 4 firsts + prospect for tkachuk is pretty good
