Wrong. Severson is a first pairing RHD. Something you've been severely missing and something that comes at a premium in this league. He's a big physical RHD who drives offense and plays solid defense. Also realize he's done all this playing on TERRIBLE devils teams.

I don't think you realize that the leafs don’t need a RD especially a rental. Getting rid of Willy would be killing our 2nd line & top PP unit chemistry plus there is only 1.5 in CS gained from this which would be the whole point of making a trade right why deplete our 2nd line of its best scorer to upgrade on a place that doesn’t need an upgrade, We need a 2nd line LW not a RD but that becomes useless if you trade Willy

First off, I think Nylander is awesome. Let's get that out of the way, but you have to make values relative because not all positions are valued the same way. Wingers don't hold the same kind of value as top pairing RHDs and you should know that. RHD's, especially ones like Severson, rarely become available.

Yes the Leafs need point producers on Defence not in the bottom 6 or Top 6 right Smh, You are part of the group that still thinks the Leafs are bad defensively, in reality they were at Top 10 defensive team in the league last season. Severson is not needed he would be a nice addition but is not as required as Willy would be, 46 Points is useless when Lilly can probably do the same thing & even if he doesn’t the production from Willy alone covers that front. Yes Top Rhd are at a premium in this league but not Rentals, Term makes the difference

You guys aren't missing much and I'm not saying you do, but Severson is better DEFENSIVELY than just about anyone there. Not to mention he brings a physical element you're missing. Remember, you just created maybe the worst goalie tandem in the league. You badly need someone like Severson because on top of everything else I mentioned, he's not too shabby at clearing bodies from the crease.

Let's get something out of the way. I actually like watching the leafs. Matthews is far and away one of my favorite players in the league and I pull for you guys. Leafs fans on here though are out of their minds with zero perspective. The Leafs took a MAJOR step backwards this off-season with what they did to their goaltending tandem and it's a shame, so right now, while yeah, you could use to bolster bottom-six, upgrading your top four dmen is imperative.
