St.louis. the first is nice but think they'd rather get all of Vladi's cap hit freed up instead of taking back Beau. The interest was there last season I think, not so much now though. For me anyway.

i suppose youre right especially with that thomas contact kicking in next year. worst comes to worst though beau is a very movable winger at that price

Yeah, probably. Unless he has another season like this past one. But even then someone with some extra space may be willing to take chance on him.

Isles , there is no chance they give 2023 1st alone for Tarasenko.

Pacioretty is better than Tarasenko and just went for FC, Bjorkstrand went for a 3rd +4th.

I think most people agree with this take. Just didn't make a lot of sense to give Leddy that money for that term.

Yeah that was major fail. But the islanders aren’t desperate for Tarasenko, theres no reason for them to wildly overpay for a 7.5 mill Tarasenko. Whether those teams were cap strapped doesn’t matter, they set the market

The Blues aren't in cap hell and need to move a huge contract to fit all the star money we added to the roster. They got bent over and taken advantage of because they were vulnerable due to their own mistakes/poor cap management.

from my perspective if the isles want to compete for a cup you need that top winger. i dont see any other options available to get one outside of vlad

You think top line wingers being given away for free is the market!? Blame Lou for not getting in on that action, idk wtf he's been doing.

Tarasenko played with two top 30 forwards last season, he is also old and due for regression next season. This trade makes 0 sense for the isles.

Ok but the isles aren’t required to give up a 1st rd pick in the deepest draft since 2015 and one of their better skaters/two way F

Could work as a three team deal?

NYI gets: Vladimir Tarasenko
Third Party gets: Anthony Beauvillier
STL gets: NYI 1st rounder, Third Party 2nd rounder

EDIT: I feel like the value isn’t perfectly balanced here, as or subtract as needed.

They're not required to do anything. I agree that they shouldn't though. I think they should be selling personally. I don't think there is a winger you could fit on their roster that makes them a serious contender at this point.

Almost every single forward has been traded for below what fans think they’re worth. Debrincat, Fiala, pacioretty , Bjorkstrand etc..

Tarasenko was carried by his linemates, he’s still a good player but not a top line caliber winger. The isles do not need or want to pay the price for Tarasenko, just keep him and let him walk for nothing next season

That trade is just as bad as anything Mike Milbury has ever done

I would rather let Wahlstrom get an extended look with Barzal than make a trade for anyone, also Aatu Raty should be given every chance to make the team. The isles need to get younger, not trade for declining forwards

Vladi is worth atleast a 1st and a decent prospect. I'm not saying his value is stupid high, I just don't think this trade isn't good for either team personally.

Well, the I'd assume the Isles definitely pass. I honestly don't know what the Blues would say.

I mean I don't think Vladi is declining personally. He has atleast a couple more great seasons in him I think before a real drop off. But I agree with the rest of what you said.

I don’t think people realize how great Buchnevich and Thomas were last season. Both were top 10 at their positions. Tarasenko had his highest S% since 2015 and his on ice S% (because of great linemates) was high as well. He is a prime regression candidate next season. He’ll still be a good player, but more of a 2nd liner than an elite wing

im more than aware how amazing buchnevich is but do the isles have another option? whats the goal of this team? contend for a cup be mediocre? if its to win a cup you have to make this trade.

Great players usually get put with great line mates. His shooting % wasn't too far above his career average I don't think, I'll have to check again. If you watch a lot of his goals or even find plays where he assisted on them, he was a huge part of making it happen. He had a ton of prime looks too that he got robbed on, could have had a 40 goal season. Most importantly the dude just still has his scoring touch. He probably takes a step back from being over a ppg and leading the team but I still see him potting 30+ goals. Hell he could end up having a better season for all we know. Perrons best seasons have came in his 30s
