He literally gave them 3 years extension because by that time the cap trouble will be over and he also did so to keep grief line together. Imagine thinking wild will take on Vegas contract dump, Karlsson Williams who Vegas has to trade and prospect. Minnesota isn't the place for you to dump your problems on. I hate to be the one to break your heart but Guerin accepted the trade because Folignos agent came out in the media and was mad about his role on the depth chart(just like Talbot) and Guerin folded faster then the wild in Games 5,6,and 7 of a playoff series.

Why would the Wild entertain that trade? Doesn’t do anything for them.

1) The Wild have been in the league for 22 years, not 25. 🤦‍♂️

2) You know, it continues to amaze me that morons continue to think that is a legitimate chirp to Wild fans when the two expansion drafts were very different and heavily slanted in Vegas' favor. Vegas was gift-wrapped a competitive roster from the get go.

Minnesota and Columbus weren't.

The expansion rules in 2000 meant that Minnesota and Columbus were only able to pick 4th line/replacement level caliber players. Furthermore, this was on top of the fact that the leagues rosters were already thin due to the Preds and Thrashers expansions in 97 and 98. The two teams were then left to fight each other for what little was already left.

The odds were already stacked against them.

Vegas had none of those issues and due to the decreased expansion rule protections teams had in 2017 it allowed them to fill their roster with 2nd and 3rd line caliber players.

That's a pretty vast difference in the respective level in terms of talent between expansions. Don't you think?

To their credit. Minnesota made its first playoffs, all the way to the WCF in point of fact, with the help of a HOF coach in Lemaire and a plucky squad that still carried some of those expansion players in 2003. 3 years after coming into the league.

Columbus didn't make the playoffs until 2009. And there wasn't a single remaining player left from their expansion roster by that point.
