NYR has no money for Huberdeau unfortunately, unless you wanna retain some. Already insanely stacked on the LW anyway haha...

Likewise DAL has no money for Monahan, either

I will just assume you meant to add retention on most of these and just forgor : P

Where are over half these teams getting the cap space? And I think the rebuild ship sailed with the Tkachuk trade. They need to try to win now.

Sens aren't paying close to that for Weegar.

Unless they don't want to sign, in which case it's best to rebuild kind of like this guy is doing. It would be absolutely catastrophic if both of these players walk in free agency next year, and CGY gets nothing but a playoff run out of it

Well, if they don't want to sign, then why did CGY make the trade? There's no turning back now.

I'm not sure you can have those conversations before the trade, but it's genius regardless. If they do want to sign, then they remain a playoff contending team long term. If they don't wanna sign, they maximize their return by flipping both of them at the deadline for huge hauls. It's great to have options given the cards Treliving has been dealt this offseason

If Hubby and Weegar agreed to extensions as part of trades much the same way Tkachuk just did, I think the Flames could get a haul for them. It’s honestly what I think they should do if they can get them to agree to extensions in Calgary stat. I would imagine Huberdeau would be offered the Johnny hockey package of 10 plus over 8 to stay but he might still decline….

Of course you can have those conversations, Tkachuk's extension was announced immediately.
