Sandin can be offer sheeted and you do not have to give up Salo. Lou would never do a OS though.

VAN is not going to take cap back for Miller.

Teams are to scared to offersheet after what Carolina did to MTL. Basically it sets up for retaliation

As lets be real if a team was going to offersheet him it would have been done a week ago

Like people talk as if OS are a common thing when we have only seen 5 in 12 years and one was retaliation for a failed attempt by the other team

At this point teams would rather trade that way they get what they want without the fear of retaliation when they become vulnerable to one.

I agree that teams will not offer sheet players, and I stated that Lou wouldn't either.

But they can be used to gauge the return on an RFA. In this case an offer sheet for Sandin would be a 2nd round pick, so teams would not need to add more to that.

True but honestly sometimes teams pay more to get what they want even with that option available

Look at Romanov got the 13OA pick and one could argue hes worth less. If I was Dubas and trading Sandin I would want a good young C coming back.

As in the end both teams get what they want even if the price be a tad higher than a 2nd
