Canes have no need or interest in Toews or drouin and want to keep Fast. Graves could be interesting but doubt devils want to make that deal.

Yeah man that CHI deal is way too much. The canes are in a good position to make a cup run as it is. No need to sacrifice so much of the future for 2 guys they don’t need and are rentals.

I like the Graves trade.

Canes wouldn't trade that much for a couple of rentals no matter how good they are. Necas, our best prospect, 2 other ok prospects and 2 first is a VERY steep price. Don's never been one to spend big at the deadline for a player who isn't gonna help now AND long term.

Fast isn't going anywhere especially for that.

That's an ok trade for Drouin. They might consider him at the TDL if they were looking for a somewhat cheap rental.

I actually don’t mind the Graves trade, just got a couple of caveats..
1. I think the Devils would prefer a different player over Bear considering their depth on the right side.. even assuming they move Severson that spot should end up being given to Nemec or Walsh at the end of the season barring injury.
2. I think the devils would also rather have that 2024 2nd change to this year, don’t think they are interested in gaining assets that won’t be useful more short term so maybe swap the years of the 2nd and 3rd picks
3. Contingent on Devils selling off other players at the TDL (which I’m sure they do) they wouldn’t be able to eat Gardiners contract.

Again I think the trade is totally fine but I do think the biggest change would need to be replacing Bear imho

Who so you think they would want for Graves? Like a LD instead? Or a forward? The thing is, the forward core is basically set aside from Necas. They could make something work but NJ would need to add quite a lot and i doubt they would deal one of their bigger players which is probably what the Canes would be looking for in a Necas trade.

Its an overpay for the Hawks but if you could get Kane for your 1st and a prospect at 50% retained thats a good outcome IMO.

Drouin at 50% is worth a 2nd for them if he is healthy, always a big if
