Elite signing by Waddell. To bring a much loved Canes legend back at such a cheap deal is brilliant.

dzingerrrrrrr welcome back, I did not except him to come back. I don't think he'll crack the 4th line but you never know. I hope he comes back in his old form in 18-19 for example. If not NHL he's gonna be a stud in Chicago.

This is the second team he's has a second stint with. I hope he's traded to Arizona, San Jose, or Columbus some time during the year.

Good for Zinger. Wasn't ever a great player, but I can't think of many players I've loved in Ottawa more than Dzingel. He's a great hockey personality, and had some great moments.

True. Chicago needs more fringe NHL players for their top 6 😂

He's past his prime now, but he had a pretty good run for a 7th rounder. He also had that great run down the stretch for OTT leading up to the TDL when he was dealt to CBJ when they were all in. I think they beat Tampa that year. Decent depth signing.

What happened to this guy, was on his way to being a ppg top sixer with Ottawa and just flared out?

I’m surprised they brought him back when he didn’t seem like a good fit in Carolina before, but I’m glad he’s getting another chance.

I think what happened to him is that he’s the type of player who needs to play in the top 6 to be effective, but he’s not good enough to make the top 6 on a good team and he couldn’t adjust his game to a bottom-6 role. It’s a 2-way contract, so I suspect he’s earmarked for the AHL, and maybe he’ll get called up as an injury replacement.

Yeah, pretty good return for Dzingel as a pending UFA. I still don't understand why Ottawa didn't qualify Duclair at $1.65M coming off 23 goals in a shortened season.
