I think Florida has taken a big step back; lost 3 key players (Huberdeau, Weegar + duclair). Tkatchuk is a good pickup but can’t make up for all of that. Maybe still playoff team but no way they finish first

I predict - Toronto/Tampa , Florida and then a dog fight between wings and SENs and Bruins for 4th. Could be two wild cards from the East b/c aside from top 3, metro not impressive

The Atlantic division has definitely taken a step backwards. Florida took one step forward with Tkachuk, but 3 steps backward with the rest of their moves. Toronto took a step backward with their goalies moves, and Tampa went backward with the McDonagh trade. Boston is refusing to rebuild, so they will just end up being an extremely mediocre team much like the Jets. Whereas Ottawa has taken the biggest steps forward, and Detroit and Buffalo have also taken big steps forward.

The metro continues to be strong, with the Canes taking big steps forward. CBJ took 2 steps forward, but also 1 step back by screwing up the Bjorkstrand trade so much and signing Gubranson to that terrible contract. I think the Rags will end up regretting signing Trocheck starting next year, and I think the Pens will regret a couple of signings as well. NYI are a wild guess this season, and NJ took a couple steps forward. Caps are getting older and very likely don’t make the playoffs this year, and Philly is going to try to contend much like Boston.

Having Vegas winning the Pacific is very bold. Particularly with the loss of Patches, they are even farther from competing than last year. As for the Central, I do think the Avs have already taken a step back, and might continue to take more steps backward the further into the off season we go.

I think there are going to be some big surprises in the playoffs this year.
