I don't think there's much trade value right now. Probably a smart move not to sell low. Good signing.

Right where most of us expected him to be, and a good figure for Edmonton. A very nice signing for both team and player.

Two years would walk Jesse to free agency. Three or more would cost money the Oilers don't have this year. One is basically the only realistic option.

I sense a trade coming soon for EDM, even with Smith being on LTIR. Klef coming back is going to make their cap situation really tough

Nice! Now hopefully he gets back to his pre-COVID form when he was scoring at a 29 goal, 67 point pace.

Jesse at $3M is much better value than Foegele at $2.75M. I think it's Foegele that gets moved - especially with the logjam at LW.

Are you sure about that? He doesn't turn 27 until the 2024-2025 season. I thought it was 7 accrued seasons AND 27-year birthday prior to July 1, not 7 accrued seasons OR 27 years old.

I like puljujarvi. He’s a solid top six player put $3,000,000? That’s a bit two much cash. I would’ve liked the contract if it was around the $2,225,000 or $2,500,000.

Yes, it's either/or. https://puckpedia.com/salary-cap/unrestricted-free-agents-ufa

Thanks for the clarification and citation.

I was confused by the inclusion of Group 6 UFA’s as the third element of CapFriendly’s list of qualifications for free agency.

CapFriendly says: “Any player who meets the following requirements becomes an unrestricted free agent (UFA):” If the qualifications were “either/or,” CF should have said “A player who meets any of the following requirements becomes an unrestricted free agent (UFA):”

However, the inclusion of Group 6 UFA’s as the third “element” of this list suggested that it’s serial, not collective. But I’m no legal expert, let alone a contracts expert, so I don’t know nuffink. And I’m glad that you cleared this up.

I went to the CF page first, just like you did, but it isn't clear as you say so I had to go to puckpedia. @Banks - maybe the UFA section of your CBA FAQ could be clearer on this point?

Two reasons why it's up in the air imo, Weber and Price. We always heard the rumor that price was potentially done but it certainly looks like he is coming back and then you had Weber where it hit you like a ton of bricks that he was for sure done. I havent seen anything convincing enough to think for sure he is done.

After 2 years he'd still be an RFA. You need to either be age 27 on July 1 or have 7 qualifying NHL seasons (40+ NHL games). His rookie season didn't count because he only played 28 games, so that means he currently only has 4 qualifying NHL seasons under his belt so far.

July 1, 2024 he'll be 26 years old and he'll only have 6 qualifying seasons, so he'd still be a RFA.

I don't disagree, frankly I just get a little sick every time I see Nurse's contract. (This is not suggesting a trade, just making a statement)

Wrong. He was on the roster for more than 40 games in his rookie season, so that counts. He'll be a UFA in the summer of 2024.

Klef is already confirmed to not be playing this season. If he comes back next year his contract with the oilers would already be over anyways

Are you're sure that's true? You're correct on the active roster vs games played, but his HockeyDB shows that he played in 39 games in the AHL that season. Was he on the active NHL roster for 40+ games?
