Hockey is in a bad enough spot already, there’s no need to bring Virtanen back and make things worse.

Virtanen does not deserve a second chance. He's lucky that he's not in jail, and especially with what's going on with Hockey Canada, this would be an awful decision.

The Leafs and most other organizations have been actively trying to promote hockey as a sport for everyone (eg. Hayley Wickenheiser), this would be a step in the wrong direction.

He had two concussions in the second half of last season and returned only for the playoffs.

Only a concussion expert could tell us that.......but he has had multi-concussions.......so he is risking his long-term health by continuing to play in the NHL.

Some team is going to sign him and give him a chance even if it is not the Leafs.

But based on the fact that he is currently in the leafs lineup, one would assume that the leafs concussion experts have cleared him to play.

I agree........but concussions are funny......he could start experiencing concussion side effects during his summer training and the Leafs doctor's shut him down for a long-term recovery.

So you are saying that a hockey player who was found innocent in a trial does not deserve a second chance?

So muzzin fakes symptoms to help leafs cap situation?

Highly doubt it. Sure he was found not guilty, but the PR of signing him would be awful for any team. Look at what’s going on with hockey Canada, this ain’t a time to sign a guy like Virtanen. I mean dude, Brendan Leipsic was blacklisted from the NHL over leaked DMs. You really think an NHL team will bring in a guy like Virtanen?

But he was proven innocent.. if someone is trying to take him for money and literally didn't do anything wrong. Why wouldn't he deserve another chance? I could totally understand if he was guilty... but he wasn't...

I 100% agree…but with the world junior stuff going on I can see teams avoiding him like the plague

Again, like I said, it’s all about PR. If an NHL team wants to take the risk they can, and it could work out okay. But I just think that there’s enough going on that would cause a lot of backlash. Is it right? No. Is it what probably happens? Yes.

Tbh I didn't see he was proved innocent. Anyways, it would still probably be bad PR for the Leafs, as there will always be those saying "rich people have an advantage in court" or "no one ever believes survivors", especially with Hockey Canada and that whole fiasco.

On another note, the Leafs don't have a need for him. He won't be cracking the top-9, and he was struggling even before he got bought out, so with all of the time that he has missed, it will be an AHL signing, and the Leafs won't potentially ruin their reputation for an AHL player.

I do not think you realize the skill set that Jake Virtanen has interms of size, skating and shooting and now the motivation he has to success in the NHL..........Dubas is in the winning hockey business and if he thinks Virtanen could pan out ......he will give him a chance.
