Are you really trading Fedotov...
Taking on JVR itself would maybe cost that trade up so I don't see why Montreal adds Anderson

The idea of the MTL trade:
JVR and Anderson are similar production, but JVR has just 1 yr left, Anderson has FIVE, the moving up (most likely) a full round in the draft and a goal prospect (not to be heartless, but PHI has Sandstrom, Fedotov and Errson now. Possibly losing the chance of getting Fedotov to the NHL now, is that is his window), help make up the difference, but really its about MTL shedding the long term Anderson deal.

Except the havs dont WANT to shed the deal.

If Hufhes wanted fedotov and a 1st level return he easily could have got it at the draft without giving back a 2nd or eating jvr

Habs don’t want to trade Anderson. This has been said publicly multiple times. It would need to be a massive haul for them to do it so this doesn’t work.

Montreal and Pittsburgh are definitely passing on those.

Uh, you're very clearly wrong. Montreal didn't need to trade Petry, but they wanted to honour his trade request, shopped him and took the first trade that made sense to the Canadiens. Montreal doesn't need or want to move Anderson and have rebuffed calls on him.

That’s a nice Strawman you’ve got there

The argument was that Habs fans believed Petry would land a high first and more… they think Andersson should rake in the same

I mean, sure, fans have ridiculous proposals. Case in point, the proposals above.

Yeah, I don’t think trading a bad contract, a potential franchise goalie and a first for a 2nd and another bad contract makes sense at all for Philly.

I don't know what to tell you. Its been widely reported by top insiders that JVR's contract is viewed as a cap dump and Anderson's is viewed as reasonable. And there is not anyone that seriously believes that Fedotov was a potential franchise goaltender, even before he was forced to go to a military base in northern Russia.

You want to be delusional about it then I can't really stop you.

Yes.

And you don’t think he is a potential franchise goalie? Massive size, very agile, shines on odd man rushes… guy reminds me of Ben Bishop

No. He's 25. He's got technical issues and he hasn't played in NA much. And if Ben Bishop is the measure of franchise goalie then you don't know what a franchise goalie is.

Not playing in North America isn’t always an issue. More for skaters than goalies I’d say as long as you have the stamina to go a full season which tends to be the biggest issue for goalies.
