That’s 6 million in retention on murphy who is already on a decent contract. If there’s no retention then it’s probably close to fair. Not enough to move muzzin and he doesn’t waive anyways. Sorry you’re stuck with him

Muzzin waives his trade protection to go to Arizona? That's a bold move by him lol.

Muzzin has a no-trade and he isn't waiving it for Arizona, if he waives it at all. And I doubt Chicago eats that much on Murphy, but you also don't need them too. If you take that out and send Anderson down, you're under the cap I think.

Why does anybody seem to think they know what Jake Muzzin is thinking at all times? When he was traded to Toronto his wife was cheesed moving away from Cali (friend of mine is her brother). He could very well be OK with moving to a market with no stress and low expectations where he can collect his money and ride out the rest of his contract. I know we want to believe everyone is ultra competitive all the time and are OK with the stresses of a big market but that's not always the case.

Bad contract = there is no way they will ever leave
star player = there is no way they will stay.

Leafs don't need anymore Dmen. Losing Muzzin would be good enough.

Hopefully that doesn't ring true for Matthews, Marner, Nylander and potentially Liljegren and Sandin. Rielly is signed long-term, and Bunting isn't a star, but he's on a great contract.

It certainly doesn't. It's just what other fan bases, that are so preoccupied with the leafs they forget about their own team, like to think.
